First let me say that I love Skyrim and I am not brought to the forums to only discuss issues. I shall be posting more positive things later, but this issue has been bothering me and is affecting my game-play.

I have the F key bound to shouts, which I believe is the default. And Q is set to bring up the favorites menu. Currently Q does not work at all whether in the menu or in character. F works fine for shouts, but does not work in menus. This means that I can not rename items I've enchanted or favorite weapons and spells. Even if I could favorite things, I can not use the Favorites menu because Q does nothing when I press it. I would like to use the favorites menu because I constantly switch between stealthy archery and destruction mage several times during a fight. If anyone has any suggestions or mods I could download to fix this issue it would be helpful.

System specs:
TESV v1.2 (24 hours playtime)
No mods installed.
Intel i7 930 2.8Ghz
6GB RAM
2x 295GTXs (Quad SLI)

Reset controls to defaults and keep them there - key binding is a bit iffy at the moment.

After you default them, go back to your inventory, and set one thing as favourite, then go set your keys again to what you want. F key still worked after I did this.

I have solved my problem!!!! The real problem is not that the keys are not working it is simply a display problem with the menu. The menu is showing the game defaults but it accepts the rebinding. Here is the solution I am using:

Reset key bindings to default as suggested (Thanks kpax ).
I then saw what the default actions for 'Q' and 'F' were.
Q is default for favorites.
F is default 'Toggle POV'.
I bound 'Shouts' to 'F' and 'Toggle POV' to Z
Now anywhere in the menu it says to use [F] I use [Z] and it works!!!
I bound favorites to [caps] and where it says to use Q im sure [caps] will work.

So it seems the issues with key bindings are not really issues, its simply the game not showing the remap. Now that I can use the favorites menu, it popped up and displayed the rebound key [caps] for the tutorial pop-up.
