X and Y mouse sensitivity different?

Why is the Y sensitivity higher than the X with the mouse? Is there any way to fix this?

There are already several threads about this. The problem seems to be that the Vertical sensitivity is affected by your FPS. A workaround to make it a little more bearable is capping the FPS at a level that will remain stable on your system. For me 60 FPS seems to work alright. I use Bandicam to limit FPS.

It's quite disgusting that such a severe issue was not fixed before release, and I hope they patch it ASAP, or they'll have a lot of dissatisfied PC customers.

If you actually mean that Y (vert) is less sensitive than X (horizontal) then you can add this to skyrim.ini to deal with it:

[Controls]
fMouseHeadingXScale=0.0200
fMouseHeadingYScale=0.0200

*Edit: Apparently the FPS-dependent thing is a separate issue. I'm running with vsync, so my FPS is pretty much always at 60fps and I've never run into it, but people hitting higher framerates seem to be getting higher vert sensitivity. It's not a great solution, but you could tweak these values until it feels more or less equal. Just decrease the sensitivity of Y until the vert sensitivity feels about right.

I'm assuming the question is actually why is horizontal (X left/right) sensitivity higher than vertical (Y, up/down). If that's what you mean, then this is actually how the game is setup, but can be changed by editing the ini. (If this is actually some other issue, sorry :P)

The fix is actually really simple; you just need to set the variables for X and Y sensitivity scaling to the same value. Try adding this to the bottom of your skyrim.ini (you could probably put it in skyrimprefs.ini, but I assume that gets overwritten anytime you edit prefs in game):

[Controls]
fMouseHeadingXScale=0.0200
fMouseHeadingYScale=0.0200

Got this from an article where the author claimed that the original values in the file were:
0.02 for X and 0.01 (exactly half) for Y. He must have had a different version of the game (??) because these values aren't actually in skyrim.ini until you add them, but the fix still works. Making the vert sensitivity lower than horiz is a pretty common thing for gamepags (DE:HR had it set up like this when it launched) but it's generally considered super-awkward with keyboard/mouse.
No, the issue is extreme Y-axis speed when there's high FPS. Disabling V-sync unlocks the framerate, making the game MUCH smoother, but this results in places like indoor areas to have varying Y-axis speed. Staring at Jarl's throne, for instance.

Yeah, sorry, wasn't aware of that. Seen people asking how to fix the original issue of low vert sensitivity everywhere, figured it was the same complaint. Honestly I'd say just re-enable vsync and deal with staying at 60 fps for now, or else get used to doing a lot of tiny adjustments to those sensitivity values. :\

I thought I didn't have an issue with this until one time for whatever reason my system was a little bogged and I had a bit of FPS drop..then when I moved up and down it was stuttering in an odd way..must be related to the same thing?
