Okay. I got my very first cell phone, which is an Android "LG" with Virgin mobile. It is deactivated cause I have no need for a 'cell phone' but I do use it as a camera, music player, and hoping eventually a gaming device cause there are some interesting mobile games I wish to get... (TES Travels anyone?)

Anyways. I can get on Wi-Fi and was wondering if I can still download apps and such via a Wi-Fi connection? (I know the normal 3G connection requires an activated phone or at least I think so).

Also. The version is apparently 2.2.1 and was wondering if it is possible to update that? One of my friends said he wasn't able to but another said I can so I don't know for sure...

And yes... This is my first phone in my life and I'm almost 19 and I've always been the 'anti-cell-phone' guy in class...

Also... Other than TES Travels games. Any 'offline related' Apps or games you recommend using (If possible to download and such)?
