Angry Customer

Post » Tue May 15, 2012 7:14 am

So we know one thing for sure. With the glaring issues and simply unplayable state of the game there is no way in hell ID didn't know about these problems before they released the game.

Unfortunately you can't return an opened PC game. I suppose that means I will eventually get to play it so some time in the distant future I'll be able to get at least some of my money's worth out of this.

I just don't understand this from a business perspective. You know your product has major issues that is going to make it utterly useless to your customer and yet you decide to release it anyways. They've taken away all incentive for me to buy anything else from them. It really doesn't matter how good I think the game is (whenever I'm able to actually play it) why would I buy anything else from this company when I know there willing to blatantly screw there customers like this.

Even if I could get it to work by spending hours tweaking/reinstalling drivers, I just don't want to. Time is money to me and my free time is scarce. I'm not about to spend what little of it I have trying to fix an unfortunate purchase. But I feel I have the right to voice my dissent considering the size of the hand slapping me in the face.

What can I say, I work hard for my money and I'm frustrated.

Would be nothing but reasonable and polite for ID/Beth to make some kind of apology and anounce what their plans are, lot of people feel as if they spent their money for nothing atm

True, but its fundamentally more messed up you can't return the product - which would solve your immediate issue. The product has a code to enable/re-enable/trace it.

I would agree an official apology statement would appear appropriate. It won't 'solve' anything as such but it might placate a bit of your upset.

Unfortunately I can well imagine the powers that be preventing the issuing of such a statement for fears of effecting immediate sales, and there are large numbers of people enjoying a working product.

...Although we've had some fairly prominent people commenting on the situation... and that immediate period could be turning itself into bad press which could ultimately effect the perception of the brand for console sales.

*cough* there/their in subtitle... sorry to be that idiot...

You certainly have the right to complain. I encourage everyone to join Occupy Wall Street and complain. But its a stupid video game which are infamous for their technical issues on PC when first released. My advice is to never buy a PC video game when its first released if it bothers you that much.

You certainly have the right to complain.

I simply requested a refund from Steam a couple days ago and got it yesterday. The best way to express your frustration is with your wallet.. don't buy ID products in the future which is what I'm doing. Very little will be achieved by stomping feet and acting out in a public forum.

I'm not sure how you related a political movement to a video game in your head. Maybe you should find a forum on politics?

As for your advice; my comment has very little to do with buying a video game at release and everything to do with ID knowingly releasing an inferior product.

Quit trolling.

I'm glad someone was able to get a refund. As I said I plan to do exactly that, no more ID.

I'm not really trying to "achieve" anything other then voicing my opinion on the matter. When someone steals money from me I feel it's an appropriate response to have some kind of reaction. What would you have me do?

If they knew they had major issues why was the majority of those issues resolved after a new beta driver release and patch released after 2 days. Let me guess id software likes screwing with people just for fun. NO doubt no one feels more bummed about the situation than they do...Get over yourself already, you do realize with any product that there is going to be those that can't play for whatever reason it's just like that with anything and I mean anything...So if it bugs you so much get a REFUND, that's why there is such a thing.

The game works fine on my end, along with many others once the patch was released. maybe your PC just can't handle this game. Time for an upgrade maybe?

only prob is you cant get a refund if you bought a physical copy heh. but I agree, they have to be pulling their hair out over this mess. imagine the stress overload of 1000s of fans pissed off and yelling demanding magic to be pulled out of their asses. Give them a break they will get it fixed.

i dont know where you live, but in the UK we have trading standards, and you can get a refund,i have had a lot of refunds.

if they release a game as broken and unfinished as this you are entitled to a refund through false advertising and faulty product, though if you try and return it on the basis that your system cant play it,then they can refuse as you should have checked the system specs.

and as someone above said,if we all started voting with our wallets then they will soon change this underhanded practice of "sell a broken product on a promise to fix it",because thats whats been happening for years now, they kick the games out the door as soon as a date is reached and bugger the buyer for being stupid enough to trust them.

in the old days patchs were meant to fix small bugs and add new stuff, these days they are being treated like a perk from the devs.

its a shame that this game came out like this. i feel sorry for all of the artists that have spent months and months staring at a computer screen making this game. And all those hours spent watching all of the promo material b4 its release. only to be given a dogs breakfast..

Here is Bethesda's contact information. Maybe we should all start calling their number and bombarding them with faxes. That may get their attention and some kind of response other than update your video driver, which resolved nothing for a lot of people.

Bethesda Softworks LLC
a ZeniMax Media company
1370 Piccard Drive, Suite 120
Rockville, MD 20850
Phone: (301) 926-8300
Fax: (301) 926-8010

I dislike Steam, but may purchased games in the future to avoid physical copies since I too bought the physical package and no store will ever take back an opened game. While I can sympathize that sometimes a release doesn't go as expected, Bethesda/id's relative nonchalant silence on this issue is what is truly insulting to those of us who can't play the game due to frequent crashes.

Agree 100%. I'm in the same boat...excitement turned to waiting and hoping that they'll FIX THIS. Looks like a great game, I really WANT to play it. I don't mind being calm and patient but come on, 60 bucks for this mess?!

We did our part, ID and Bethesda. We provided and paid for a platform to play your game on. We paid for your game with our hard earned cash.
We read the box. We bought the "PC Game". We made sure that the game would run on our systems, YOU SHOULD TOO.

I've updated my video driver to the most up-to-date version, (which I find it stupid that they decided that requiring an unstable, BETA driver would somehow be a good idea...), but bottom line is: by law, we should be allowed to get our money back :P

This game is a lemon. It doesn't work, even though it should. Take me, for instance, I have a computer that exceeds minimum standards in all respects, and almost exceeds all the recommended ones. I also have the video driver they told me to download. Other than the fact that it runs with steam, there is literally no reason this game shouldn't work, given their apparent reasoning. That being the case, it is a lemon, software or not.

Troll. The game doesn't run :P That's the problem. There's a HUGE number of people who run perfectly average systems that are well within the requirements on which the game simply does -not- run.

I paid $60 for a [censored] two minute cinematic, and believe me, I'll be remembering that, along with the other thousands of people suffering these same stupid issues. Good luck digging yourselves out of this one.

There, see, you do feel free to complain. Good for you.

As for Id, Rage is now the best selling game on steam, has mostly good to great reviews, and the driver updates and patch have taken care of the worst problems. That's what I call a winner. Again, if you want instant hassle free gratification you'll either have to wait awhile to make sure they've worked out the bugs or switch to a console. Even MS can't guaranty their programs won't have serious problems at launch and the best you can hope for is they fix it fast.
