You could practice with the formats and the tools by making some character/NPC animations for Morrowind, perhaps? :hubbahubba:

I'm pretty sure one of the best community mods is the unique landscapes project for oblivion. Although I don't have a good view on what mods were or weren't community mods.

But I don't know if a unique landscapes project is even necessary for skyrim. The landscapes are already so awesome.

If you're interested, you could join the MERP project, but it's a total conversion of Skyrim.

If you're looking for a team try first releasing some work of your own. Animators are a precious rarity in the modding world so you don't have to worry - release something to show your talent and teams will be fighting over you in no time ^^

Speaking as someone who doesn't really know what goes into things like these, I think you will be sorely need for those who might want to mod combat. Maybe Duke Patrick/spookyfx has some new animations he'd like to put in. I, for one, would like throwing weapons and maybe crossbows in so maybe you could do the animations for those.

A large part of the overhaul will be a combat overhaul, which I believe is to be released as a separate mod. Please talk to Maegfaer about this as he's the scripter for it :D.

There's no such thing as a "best team" - especially since there's no CS and little actual modding being done at the moment. You should instead look around and find a mod that interests you and then help them out. If you're interested in combat find a mod that is looking to improve combat, or make your own. If you're interested in something else, do that. Mod teams aren't like production companies who work on a lot of projects, each mod is typically its own "team" and the same people can work on a lot of different mods.

btw why not improve some of the game's existing animations or add new ones. There's a request for a kick, and i certainly would like the mining animation improved. Vanilla looks like he's tapping the stone instead of putting weight into it.

Are you mainly interested in Skyrim, or are you willing to work with Oblivion as well? :)

Like Lady N said, don't focus on just joining one team to work on one specific project. Unless it's a huge project, like MERP, people generally don't form "modding teams."

Instead, just put yourself out there as an animator and look around for mods that interest you that may need your skills. It seems like there's never been many good animators in the Elder Scrolls modding community, so I'm sure you'll find plenty of projects to work on just by offering your skills to mods that need animations done.

I'd say the first step is to decide more specifically what it is you want to do haha. It'll be a lot easier to narrow it down when you have something in mind. There's always a demand for decent animators, but I'd recommend waiting until the construction kit comes out. Then people will start announcing their projects and you'll have a clearer idea of what'll be out there inititally. :)

Rather than ally yourself to any particular mod it might be better to advertise your skills as a freelance, that way you can do bit work for various mods or even just provide various anims. When making the Agaria (slum part of a city) for my Mesogea mod I had to be quite inventive with making the anims bring the city NPC's to life. Chopping meat, being a blacksmith, stonemason, merchant, women praying before a shrine etc (have a look at the video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N09WDCJcVSk )

I wanted a feel of a city alive with people getting on with their lives. There were few custom anims around. You could provide various general NPC idle anims and other stuff and take requests. Pubs and Inns were always a bit wierd to be in because people werent doing much, drinking, eating, and then nothing, just standing around awkwardly. I dont know what Skyrim already provide with this kind of thing but to have NPC's doing various stuff too would massively help immersion.

I think youd be wasted on one specific mod only.

All the names I'm about to list are Oblivion modders; I don't know if all of them will be migrating to Skyrim. Some projects that come to mind:

The team that made (completed) Nehrim, a total conversion for Oblivion that I can personally attest is awesome, is working on a new project. The team's name is SureAI, and they have an impressive lineage including two total conversions for Morrowind. They are German and picky about who they take on as full members for attribution/drama reasons, so be aware of that.

MERP is huge, it is migrating from Oblivion, it has never been completed. The same is true of Mesogea. Both teams have invested huge amounts of time in these projects, but neither has released a completed product.

Silgrad Tower may or may not still be a thing, but they've been around at least since Morrowind. They make province mods, some of which have seen release in at least some form.

Deadly Reflex by Skycaptain and Unnecessary Violence by a guy whose name is slipping my mind made very widely well-regarded combat mods, adding numerous weapon types, combat moves, etc. They would both be great uses of your time if you were to team up with them.

There was a project called Oblivion Reanimated that was doing good stuff but never saw release.

All that said, you could do a great deal of good either just releasing replacers for animations that bug or bore you, or doing piecemeal work for a bunch of smaller quest mods. Creating new animations and posting them as modder's resources might also be useful too.

If you would like something to work on immediately (or as soon as CS comes out) then i would suggest redoing the skyrim male walk animation.

IMHO the current animation makes the males in skyrim look like they have bad armpit rash and a large carrot :o up you know where.

OMG you bet I would!

I would like to see some way to kick from the ground for defensive attacking once you have fallen. Not sue if I can do that yet as I need to see the creation kit first. But most of all I would like to see proper real life attacks were you do not THROW the shield behind you when you swing your weapon.

Or the Holy Grail of sword attack animations would be a Wrap Shot. This is were the attack swings wide around your opponents shield to hit them in the back of the head with the secondary blade of the sword.

(I am a RL medieval melee combat practitioner for 30 years now, and I made the series of Duke Patrick Combat mods for Oblivion. So I have the knowledge to make the game mechanics but not the animation skills. I had to use almost all existing animations and some scripting slight of hand to alter them.)

Speaking as someone who doesn't really know what goes into things like these, I think you will be sorely need for those who might want to mod combat. Maybe Duke Patrick/spookyfx has some new animations he'd like to put in. I, for one, would like throwing weapons and maybe crossbows in so maybe you could do the animations for those.

thanks everybody for the reply

actually my main goal would be replace the fight animation...and eventually some secondary animation (citizen behaviour)

but i would like have the chance to improve the fight sistem a bit...for example i dont really like when the eney attack you..the only have 1 animation..and repeat over and hover...
will be nice see some combo/ chain... the same for the player... maybe somenthing yo unlock with a new persk

but i dont know how mutch freedom you have with the editor..im just an animatorn and im not confortable with code :P

actually when i join here i was hoping to find some modder since this is the official website

:)
