Another positive review

I thought this was a fun read.

"The last time I got my grubby little hands on The Elder Scrolls Online was during a press event Bethesda hosted a few weeks ago in Santa Monica. This time, they were showing off the game at E3 and rather than play the same areas I had at the previous event, the team was kind enough to let me break the rules and start a brand new character to see the beginning of the game. I can’t thank them enough for the opportunity because it was, in a word, awesome."

"The most amazing thing to me during my play time was the fact that I not only didn’t notice how long it took to get from level 4 to level 5, I also didn’t care."

for me, this is probably the most important sentence from the whole review.

As people like to say on here when their is a bad review about TESO "i wouldn't hold much stock in that site" after all look what they said about SWTOR.

I wonder if this will go to 5 pages.

I like the positive reviews more for the simple fact that they actually talk about stuff that is in the game, whereas the bad reviews seem to just talk about how much they didn't like it. Both are chock full of opinionated gameplay, but one usually (not always) gives more information for people who are interested in the game to take in.

It is hard to ignore a glowing review for SW:TOR though, lol.

Good point.

Anyway: I don't need opinions anymore. I am sick of it.

I want infos about the game and have to try it out myself.

I like to see that many people like it and ZOS doen't **** it up.

But now that I got that I don't even read those articles in whole anymore...

You know, I honestly don't care if the game is a full fledged MMO or just a Co-OP in MMO disguise.

The only thing I care about is that it feels like Elder Scrolls.

I'm sure others have differing opinions but that is what will make or break the game for me.

Having said that, I have a feeling that we will see more positive reviews from those that are TES fans and less positive views from those that are MMO fans who haven't dipped their toes in (and had them nibbled off by slaughterfish) the waters of Tamriel.

I guess I'm one of the few who enjoyed SWTOR for what is was... a single-player centric, soloable game with MMO trappings on the side. I knew from the beginning that is was not going to be a game that I would play for years. I played the class stories I was interested in and moved on. For me... I'm happy if I get enjoyment out of my game purchases... and I got waaay more from SWTOR, for my money, than many other single-player and less polished MMO's I've played over the years. Was it the MMO I would have made, no... but none have been for some time.

On that point.. I don't think ESO will be one that lasts for years either. I also think it will be a single-player centric, soloable game with MMO trappings on the side. But I'm fine with that... I guess.

I think it could last for years depending on how often they release DLC's for it.

Or perhaps the next single player TES game could kill it off. We don't really know enough at this point to say what its longevity will be.

As a fan of both MMOs and Elder Scrolls - I just want the game to be successful - I also don't care if it's a full out MMO or something else dressed up to look like an MMO - I suspect I will play it at some point regardless....

I take very little stock in what reviews from the conventions say good or bad. What counts is what the community says 30 days after release.

When I say last for years, I mean for me.. not the game itself. Many of the MMO's I left years ago are still running.. but they are not something that I would go back to.

As for ESO and my own preference.. the things that would make me want to keep playing for years are not in the game. I'll cap at least one character, maybe two or three depending on the grind and move on.

My attention span over the past few years has increasingly dwindled.. and today's MMO's, thus far, have not been worth putting more than a few months of my time into.

With that said, I would love it if ESO were so awesome that it changed my mind and I could hang out in game for a few years. (I still have hope someone/some company would release just such a game.. but /sigh - like that's going to happen)

See now this thread title actually makes sense because most of the reviews are positive.

Obviously though they don't mean much overall for the success of the game so good or bad take them for what they are. Take what info if any they contain and don't take them too seriously or personally.

Honestly, I want a full fledged MMO with a long lifespan more than anything, but the further we go in the waiting and seeing more about the gameplay, the more I know I'll play it for awhile even if it isn't just that. The gameplay is spot on awesome to me, including the supporting systems like loot distribution, and I have a feeling the PvP in Cyrodiil is something you could easily sink into for a long time.
