Any benefit to going hand-to-hand?

There is no skill for it, so unless you care so much about the 8-20 pounds it takes to have a sword, I don't see any practical reason for hand-to-hand combat. Is there a benefit to it?

Hand to hand is more like a mini game than an actual skill in Skyrim
