This might be a stupid question, but is there any benefit for those who played Oblivion before?

This seems to be fashion these days,...I'm thinking of Gears of War 3 where you get weapon skins and medals or Forza Motorsport 4, where you get cars for free if you had played Forza 3.

But there could be some NPCs sitting along the road playing chess and talking about a hero on the Shivering Isles i.e.
Or some spezial weapon to find....just s.th. like that.

Why? This just seems like stuff from the outside world intruding on the game. Why should games I've played before affect what Skyrim is like?

There are plenty of references to past games, that's not what you asked about in OP, you obviously wanted some Call of Duty award for having played Oblivion.

Apart from a few references and easter eggs to find, no nothing like that. If there was, you would have to upload your save game like in Mass effect, or Dragon age.

there are plenty of references to teh previous titlesfinding them and understanding them is your reward

You get easter eggs that you understand because you played Oblivion.

References are cool, but not what I want. I would have liked some special item (not too powerful) to be offered. Or a different intro screen maybe. just something cool.

This discussion tends to get into a direction I did not want it to go folks...^^
I'm not greedy, my question based more on the fact, that it is very common there days for games to offer s.th. special for players who are devoted to the series. Like i.e. GoW3 or Forza. So I wondered if Bethesda is on that or not.
It's more a "thinking about it" thing, NOT a "I want s.th" thing! ....thx

You also get the satisfaction of knowing "I did that." I killed such and such or I stopped this or that.
