Any cure for being an altoholic?

Post » Sat Jun 09, 2012 6:24 am

So it's only been a little over 2 months since release and I'm already an altoholic...

I've made so many characters and it's really ruining the game for me because I get so freaking bored of doing the same quests over and over again...

My two highest level characters are only level 32 and 28, and It's progressivly gotten worse. I used to be able to play a character to atleast level 20 before I got bored and made another one, but now it's like I'm barely about to make it to level 10.

With the new perk / talent point type system in this game there's no room for error when you're spending points, so it's like one moment I get this huge craving to play a certain type of way so I make an entirely new character, then a few levels in to him and I have a craving to play a different type of character, and the cycle goes on and on because I keep thinking of new types of characters I can make, and I just keep making more and more and it's ruining my experience! Can anyone help me get over this?

Lol, I was thinking you just mispelled alcoholic heaps of times.
But really you just need to find a playstyle that wont bore you at higher levels, or perhaps roleplay your next character.

Im an Altoholic as well, don't know what to tell you except plan your perks out.

My two characters are 37 and 31 and I'm going to make a new one, I like playing characters at a lowerr level.

Why are you playing the same quests over and over? Just go a different direction from Helgen.

yea... thanks guys, I guess I'll give actual role playing a shot. I couldnt get into it in Oblivion, but it seems like it will be a better experience in Skyrim

Thats what happened to me with Oblivion, but it stopped in Skyrim. I've been playing 222 hours so far and it's only my second character (the first one is a level 56 pure mage, and the second is a level 32 pure worrior).
Try role playing, exploring, try to find the play style that suites you most. Have you done all faction quests yet ? (Dark brotherhood, Companions etc...). Have you joined the legion or stormcloaks?
Try everything you haven't tried yet with one character.

By "altoholic" I thought you meant your character loved Alto Wine a bit too much.

I don't constantly quest in this game. I don't use fast travel and I play on master, it adds to the game.

Roleplaying is the only real way to stop that in my experience.

It seems like the solution is implied by the question. Don't do that. Just play one damn character and get off our backs already.
