Any drummers in here?

Hi. I've been drumming for 11 years. Never been in a band, played as a guest with a certain band for a little bit though. I started out drumming to simpler metal or more rock sounding type stuff then I got into tool about 5 or 6 years back. Tool let me play some really creative and different stuff. Thusly, I respect Danny Carey (Tool's drummer) a lot.

I got a double bass pedal about a year and a half back which let me finally play real fast metal like August Burns Red. When I got that pedal I was so discouraged. My left foot had no Idea what it was doing; it was like starting over. Now I'm much better. When I started playing to this fast metal I got into the bad habit of hitting my drums really hard, and I kind of followed the philosophy of just powering through when the drumming gets tough. Now I know better. I have been practicing my stick technique and my rudiments and I can drum just as good (and fast) and on a simpler set. It's all about form not strength.

So, I know there are few drummers on here. Share your experiences.
