Any good books that you guys think I should read?

Post » Mon Jul 23, 2012 7:57 am

Hello there people! I went ahead and looked at the last three pages, looking for a similar thread but I could not find one, so I decided to make my own. Anyway to the beef of the cow, I'm bored and I need some more books to read. I have a kindle so I can get books on Amazon but not much else because I live in the middle of nowhere. I like reading Post-Apocalyptic, Fantasy, Zombie/Plague ect. basically any Fiction. So go ahead, throw some suggestions at me, a small one or two sentence description would be helpful but not necessary... Im waiting!

Post Apocalyptic? Fantasy? Fiction? Well, I could refer you to Fallout:Equestria, it's fairly long and there is an ereader thingermabob link for it,but I know that's not everyone's cup of tea.

Have you read World War Z? It's a decent zombie book that takes on the perspectives of many survivors of a zombie outbreak. Have you read any of the Halo books? The Fall of Reach is pretty interesting, hell, they made a video game based on that.

There is Agatha Christie's And THen There Were None, it's about a bunch of people brought together in a secluded place and they start dying off one by one. They are all trying to find the killer before they all lose their lives.

I read the series Cirque du Freak and Demonata, both by Darren Shan and were quite interesting. Cirque du Freak is a 12 book story about a human teen who becomes a vampire. The movie was quite horrid but I did like the books. The Demonata is a gorefest, it's about demons trying to break into our universe via portals conjured by human mages and are trying to destroy the world. This one's 10 books long. The last book completely took me by surprise.

Try The Chronicles of the Necromancer and Last Kings cycle. They're six books, but the story lines only last two books. The stories are still pretty well connected, though.

Anyway, I recommend Jacked: The Outlaw Story of Grand Theft Auto. It's not incredibly well written (it's pretty basic / shallow, almost like a Wikipedia history of GTA, but still has interesting moments).

Not quite what you're looking for, but I mostly read non-fiction.

Well that thread is about what people are reading at the moment, not books I (with my interests that are listed) should read. As for the Road, I've read it, I despise Halo of anysort and I've been recommended Fallout:Eqestria ( i think it was from you actually lol) already, I checked it out and didn't enjoy it. Not my thing, lol.

In that case I'd put in a second vote for the Cirque Du Freak series.

I third the suggestion of World War Z. It's an excellent book, and very readable too. I read the whole thing in two days.

EDIT: Embarrassing brain fart.

Stephen King's Under the Dome. Soon to be a showtime mini series. It fits right in with post apocalyptic, kind of.

Some series for light reading would be:

Monster Hunter International
Sandman Slim
Twenty Palaces
Black Company

The following might be a bit too long-winded.. but nowhere near snoozefest that most long fantasy series can be:

Malazan Book of the Fallen
Dresden Files

That is all I could think of off the top of my head.

EDIT: none of them are particularly apocalyptic :(
