Any guesses as to when they're let us start making add-ons?

Post » Sun Nov 03, 2013 5:19 pm

I figured it would start with open beta but with a Q1 release and no indication of such it seems like we'll be forced to play without some pretty necessary UI for some time :|

What is considered Necessary is VERY opinionated, What it looks like they have seems fine to me.

Even though I agree, I intend to play a DoT build.

With no debuff/buffs displayed, tell me you don't think me being able to track my DoT's a little more easily isn't necessary =P the current UI is a nightmare for any build that has a lot of stuff to watch and watch for, and it just so happens that I like those kind of builds.

Add-ons =/= cheating. ZOS already said that they intend to allow UI add-ons to be made.

I repeat, being able to actually see when my DoTs are on the target, or what buffs I have, isn't really cheating, it's just displaying certain information in a more presentable format. It makes it easier on our brains so we can actually enjoy the game.

Shame, I was hoping to make a few simple add-ons before the game started but if w only get access when the game starts I don't think I'll really bother and instead just grind to max level and wait for somebody else to do it.

Meh, I am hoping they'd release it for dev a little before actual launch :|

Its possible that in the closed Beta they will have testers making mods and test them out so there could be some available at launch. Then from there can improve and add to them once the general public has access.

Well, don't take my word for it. I'm just guessing. As Pangscar said probably a few people on the closed beta already have add-ons in mind, if they haven't made any already.

It's not a cheat, developers have the ability to allow or disallow add-ons. They have allowed them to enhance the game. If it was cheating, they would not have allowed it.

Let's reflect on that for a moment

Guys, don't respond. Hes does this in every single thread about mods. Just ignore him and continue the discussion.

I honestly don't care if other players have a slight advantage over me because they have add-ons and I don't. If it bothers you too much you'll get the add-ons too. What matters to me is MY game being simplistic and similar to TES games, I don't have to force others to be the same. I'm all for allowing add-ons, because TES games have always had them as mods.

Yep, and I have faith in ZOS that they won't fall into the trap that Blizz did with WoW where they had to design the game with mod use in mind. ZOS seems to be clearly set with wanting a minimal UI and letting the game speak for itself, while also allowing the players some customization options.

While I attempt to unravel the mystery of what vajan is trying to say, to some point I absolutely agree with him. The mods in WoW basically play the game for you, that is just a plain and simple fact that anyone that has played World of Warcraft for any length of time will admit to, There is a fine line between quality of life modifications and pure game advantages, whether it is pve or pvp. Hopefully ZO keep this in check. I'm all for UI mods but I'd like them to be policed appropriately.

It's not a cheat if it's impossible to play the game in certain builds without them.

Believe it or not there are different difficulties to different builds and playstyles. Are you implying I should suffer just because I want to do something normal to every MMO?

UI probly at launch. However, for content mods or texture mods, never. It is too easy to abuse those and way too time consuming to filter them out.

Nope, Nightblade. Unfortunately the DK DoT is melee range and I'm going all caster, so only 28+ meter range abilities. Melee will be possible of course but it'll either take longer or cost more resources to apply the DoTs to everything you can see.

The way I'm planning is I'll have a good 3 DoTs to apply to every target, a lot of which can be upgraded into individual powerhouses of their own so it looks pretty promising.

and still you keep derailing every thread about mods and disrupting those that are trying to have a normal conversation. Anyways you've been reported, so hopefully a moderator will take care of it.

I only meant UI, I'm clear on their policy, I was just hoping for them to release the ability to mod the UI a little before release because I had hoped to try my hand at it. An open beta, even for like 2 or 3 weeks would be good enough I feel.

Yeah, by locking the entire thread.

No info has been released on when UI mods will be implemented. So there's no reason to fill a thread with spam while everyone argues guesses at random ideas.
