ZOS works with Bethesda on a weekly basis with the lore. So no, I'm not worried at all. If it was an alternate universe, it might as well not even be an Elder Scrolls game, to be honest.
...this game will screw up the lore? I really hope Bethesda treats this as an alternate universe rather then continue off of it.
I actually have faith in ZOS when it comes to the lore, aside from the fact Bethesda is supervising them on the project.. Especially when Paul Sage shut up those Skyrim [censored] next to him with all those lore bombs during the TESO interview for GameSpot at E3.
No not exactly if it have good lore/story it's a bonus and i can't honetly care if it don't succeed or not atm but i hope it will anyway i play Elder Scrolls for Bethesdas serie not some mmo.

2nd era was chosen explicitly to minimize that risk. It's a pseudo-dark age, where not much is known other than that there was a lot of squabbling to fill the power-vacuum left in the wake of the first Cyrodiil empire collapsing.
