Any tips for placing skill points for my character?

Post » Mon May 14, 2012 9:47 pm

I have a lvl 22 Khajiit that uses archery, dual wield, wears light armor, but IS NOT AN ASSASSIN, I don't sneak around unless it seems necessary (like taking out 1 enemy in a room with 3 or 4 enemies to make it easier). I made him to be sort of like Legolas, as much as I hate making references to movies and other games, but that's the best thing I can relate him to.

Anyways, my damage is great, and I can usually take on normal enemies just fine, but with boss enemies and dragons I really struggle, I usually can't take them down without using a bunch of potions because they always tear me apart faster than I can kill them, even with a bunch of health enchantments to boost my survivability. I try to avoid having to bring companions with me everywhere because I want to be "Dragonborn" not "Dragonborn and his protector". Is there something I'm doing wrong with placing points?

Here's the link to the 'spec' I'm using so far (sorry, I know this talent calculator is kinda messy and doesn't follow the actual mapping used in game, but it works)

Any suggestions on where I should move from here? or is it too late to save my character :P

i'd suggest adding poisons but besides that boss enemies and dragons are supposed to be a challenge.

I get that, but going through 10 or more potions each fight and having to pause the game to drink up every 10 seconds is a bit ridiculous. They're supposed to be a challenge, yes, but there's a difference between fun challenge that actually challenges YOU, and annoying challenges that test how many potions you brought

This is my take on your build's natural progression. I don't agree with the idea of spreading points over multiple 1-handed weapon type perks, but since you already placed your points, I left them as is:

Its just the way the combat system is designed, its all about the numbers, it has very little to do with skill.

Thanks. And I did that because I never know when I'm going to find a better weapon of a different type, and all of those weapon type perks sound useful in their own ways. So if I go up against a guy in heavy plate armor, I would switch to my maces, or perhaps a mace / axe or mace / sword combo, if I was going up against someone in light armor or cloth I might experiment with dual swords, dual axes, or axe / sword combo. I just anticipate them being useful in different situations
