There are two titles being worked on, one a FPS and the other RTS. http://www.xcom.com/ Not fantasy, but the RTS one is supposedly coming out within a year or so.

XCOM is mostly a turn based strategy game though. Only the world map view has RTS elements in it.

I haven't played the originals, so I'm not too familiar with the series.

It's not an RTS, but Crusader Kings 2(grand strategy game) is coming out soon.
