Any way to get the original FUS RO DAH! back in the game?

Post » Wed May 16, 2012 4:06 pm

This is probably my biggest disappointment with Skyrim (which means the game is pretty damn awesome). Ever since I heard the original "fus ro dah" from the trailer, I couldn't wait to use it in-game. The timing is perfect. Sure, it sounds like "Mus dro dah" for some reason, but the timing just makes it so epic.

Alas, the game uses a gimped version of the shout. I.e., "fuuuus, RODAH" instead of the epic "fus. ro. DAH!"

I'd love to have that epic version in the game, the one I've been shouting for so many months, but the sound effects and music would get in the way, as shown here.

I wish we could get it in somehow. Maybe if we begged Bethesda for the original voice files used in the trailer (if that doesn't violate any weird voice copyright laws).

I can dream.

I am pretty sure that was made only for the trailer and doubt it was in the actual game probably more of something they dubbed in.

As am I. But I'd still love to see it as a mod. If we just had the voice files. :(

Yeah i edited my post above i doubt it was something that was ever in the game so i doubt they would ever give out the voice file for it sadly.

Even if it was never in the original game, they'd still need the original voice file recorded before they added the layers of epicness on top. That means they likely still have it.

The sound file is probably replaceable. There ain't no way I'm doing the voice for it, tho.

Prob. req. the CK, tho.

I agree. Not sure why it's different... FUS RO DAH is definitly better than the current one. It sounds like he forgets the chant halfway through, then remembers. Fuuuuuuuu *Crap what was the rest?.......* uuuusssssssss *Oh yeah!* RODAH!!!!

I was also disappointed. Kahjiit don't even make a sound that's really recognizable. Not even close to Fus Ro Dah. More like POOF!!!

I think it's okay in-game, I can distinct the word (male nord), but I agree it lack that Epicness and Impact the Fus Roh Dah have in the trailer.

I'm sure somehow someday someone somewhere will find a way to improve it. :)

some badass sounding guy should just record himself doing all of the shouts, and replace the original ones.

I was disappointed as well. They really hyped up how awesome that shout was in the trailer too.

In theory, this would work with just a simple replace, but here's the issue with that.

Bethesda, in making Skyrim, has decided to use completely different codecs and filetypes for their audio this time around. Just about all of their sound effects and music are now .wmx instead of .wav (which you can get a player for http://www.din.or.jp/~ch3/down_e.html), and all of their voice files seem to be using a hybrid file that includes both the audio and the lip syncing info called .fuz. While I believe there are methods out there to create .wmx files, there's is nothing I've found on creating a .fuz file. Perhaps Bethesda will include a tool in the CK that allows us to create .fuz files somehow, but I'm having some doubtful feelings about that, seeing as the lip syncing function was eventually removed from the CS for Oblivion, and was never put back in for Fallout 3 or New Vegas. I think that was because of some licensing issues, but don't take my word on that.

I wish they kept in the absorbing technique to the game.

Would of made the game worth while. They mention how so little detail went into this game and you can see it in the trailer, but in the release product it's not there. False advertising really.
