Any way to learn Heal Undead spell if you're not a vampire?

Post » Tue Nov 20, 2012 10:15 pm

Anyone know of a way to obtain the tome for Heal Undead if you're not playing as a vampire?

It's just a compulsion - no, there are no undead I need to heal - I just hate that this one spell eludes me. The UESP only lists it as being available via purchase but you have to buy it from Ronthil, who is a vampire merchant. For a Dawnguard like myself, he's hostile - unless there was some moment where I could have bought it from him waaay back, like, when I returned Serana to Harkon in the very beginning (please tell me if this is possible (if you know)).

Thanks.

Buying it from Ronthil is the only way. As a member of Dawnguard, you have no access to this spell.

With the vampire side you can calm the dawnguard members and purchase from their shop. I imagine it works both way.

Now, that's interesting... I'll have to reload an older save to try it...

If your talking about the Necromantic healing spell, it can be found on a table during the quest to get Serana. After you fight the Gargoyles and continue on you'll enter a room with coffins for draugr, the room that you have to pull a lever to exit out of that room to the final door but the second you do all the draugr wake up. Anyway there's a stone table that's hidden in the shadows in that room, the spell tome can be found on that table.

I just did some digging around and couldn't find the location but did find the name of the cave, Dimhallow crypt.

I (as a Dawnguard) don't seem to get that opportunity. When I'm first in the Castle, he's on a balcony I can't access. The next time I see him it's full-on combat. Can he be calmed and bartered with mid-combat?

I found the spell tome while playing as a Dawnguard, can't remember where but it was during a Dawnguard quest.
So there is at least on Spell Tome lying around somewhere, possibly the quest where you release Serana.

It's Necromantic Healing (Healing Hands for the undead). He's looking for Heal Undead (=Heal Other).

There is a copy lying around in Volkhar castle, which I saw after blood guts Harkon turned me, but my game crashed, and I didn't have a save, and next reload I went DG and turned him down...when I went to pick up the spell tomes I saw that first time, they weren't there after the battle, so I suspect that it really is 'quest line' specific.

I played through as a vamp but never saw a placed copy. I'm pretty sure now that the only way to get it is by buying it from Ronthil (an option for vampire faction only, 'natch).
