Any way to stop mannaquines duplicating armor?

Post » Thu Nov 15, 2012 4:09 am

I've only ever noticed this glitch with the mannaquines in Hearthfire, not the city houses, and it's really annonying. Basically the mannaquines will constantly duplicate and equip the first chest armor that I put on them. If I take that armor off and put something else on, once I leave and come back it's unequipped the new piece and duplicated and re-equipped the original.

Has anyone (on the 360) found a trick or something to stop them doing that so I can display my new armor?

The house also duplicates objects, such as books, plates ect that I removed in order to place other items for decoration. I came back after a few days and some of the items I'd places had been knocked aside by the original items respawning.

Reading some of the other posts on here it makes me think Hearthfire wasn't quite ready for release.

The house resetting is a problem they started with Dawnguard, a bit ridiculous when they want us to actually decorate the houses, my current character is attempting to decorate around Bethesda's junk, not happy about having to keep the unwanted junk though. With the mannequins making free armour for you, the solution would be to only put on them what you want there permanently, and what you want more of. They do not seem to duplicate everything though, which is a pity. They should eventually run out if you keep changing the armour to something different. The ones with the glitch in the main game did. And some of the ones from my first playthough of Hearthfire did.

I found improving an item with smithing before placing it on a mannequin prevented duplicates.

I have started equipping the mannequins with the armor i want to put on it over the old, it will default equip the new armor while the old will remain on the mannequin but not equipped, leave it there. Leave your house and come back in. Some of your new peices will still be equipped and some of the old will be equipped but will not duplicate. Open the mannequin and take away only the old pieces that did not re-equip and the new pieces that did not equip and without closing character screen re-equip the remaining new over the remaining old. After you do this 2 or 3 times, or you might even get lucky on the 1st, your new set will be on the mannequin.
Its is a pain i know but it works for me.

I actually have not tried that. It would certainly be easier then the way i just explained. I wonder if cheap, petty soul grade enchants would also work..
