Anybody Enjoy Playing Disc Golf?

Post » Mon Aug 13, 2012 10:19 pm

My son introduced me to it I find it's a really good way to enjoy a couple of hours in the park...
Seems that it's gaining a lot of popularity in the US but not sure of other places however I found this extremely well done video from Sweden:

We have three or four local places to play....and it's free...except maybe a park pass.

I've played a few times now, and have found that my best technique is a 'tomahawk' throw.
These are not your typical beach Frisbees, and it's probably not a good idea to play catch with them.

Does it involve intercepting the discs with a high powered laser fire from an orbiting satellite by the opposing team's laser gate keeper?

Well, I've yet to see that. It' mostly an individual game the way we play but I'll keep my eye out...I'd put nothing past 'em...

Good thing you clarified...p-stomper will get you for that.
It might be fairly easy and common to take a bird out when they [the discs] go in the woods...

Now that is an interesting twist. Call it mayhem disc golf. The objective is to cause as much carnage to the surroundings as possible with the discs. You score as normal for playing proper (whoever the boring fool is). However if you cause carnage and mayhem you take score away from the other team. Hitting a... fake target bird (not a real one, I'm not a monster here) would be worth like.. I don't know. A lot. It would be like the golden snitch, the game ender. If only we had the technology.

Edit
Anyways I will not derail this any further. Did I even derail it? Or did most people just imagine the most interesting sport in the world that will never be.

My buddies and I used to go out and play a few holes but now that we're all working we don't have much time anymore. It's a lot of fun and once you throw a few times, you start getting used to it.

Although it really can be just as frustrating as real golf. :P

Seems like it takes a long time to get really good...but I don't care, it's a way to get out and get some fresh air and exercise. I make par maybe 2 or three times in 18 holes.

...and sore the next day.
