Hmm... Vanilla Oblivion crashed every 1 hour of playing when my computer had 2gbs of RAM,and every 2 hours when I upgraded my RAM to 4gb.
It was because of a problem of the game's engine that used RAM without needing it until it would run out of it.
Finding Gamebryo's problems on the Creation Engine is suspicious.
Creation is supposed to be a new one.

How much RAM do you have ?

Maybe it's just a new name.

What you describe sounds like a memory leak, used to get plenty of those in Age of Conan.

They stated that they just edited Gamebryo, but they changed so much they felt it merited a new engine name. Looks like some of the previous problems persisted.

Having same problem . same video card...gtx 460 EVGA , just exits out after around 30-40 mins , but if i am indoors when this time gets to that point , i get some slitght stuttering...quit out and restart all is fine. But it just returns , read in another thread , someone turned off the auto save option , the option that it saves every 15mins or whatever you want it to save , its under options gonna test that and see what happens. Kinda annoying =(.

have you checked your event viewer in windows. if you have a entry you can search the error codes and you can see if its in relation to skyrim or when skyrim accesses your harsware/software(windows).

your machine specs shoudl be able to run it on high without any issues so my bet would be to check what i said and post if you not sure. the only issues in skyrim i have seen on my end is missing textures when ive playerd the game for too long i.e 6 hours.
