Is anyone else finding some enemies impossible?

Post » Wed May 09, 2012 3:32 pm

Have you yet gone into a place where you find an enemy who is randomly impossible to kill because this has happened a number of times. for your information im level 6 and I have lost to a bandit thug, a master vampire, a snow bear, a giant and a couple random weird executioners. Im just curious if anyone else has experienced the same thing?

A dragon kinda kicked my ass but I'm pretty sure that is supposed to happen. As for bandits I'm rippin' and a tearin' through them at level 7, what difficulty are you on?

A Master Vampire vs. a Level 6?

I'm betting on the Master Vampire

BTW - does the UI tell you the level of the enemy you're fighting?

I love it, this is how RPGs are supposed to be. Some dudes you just can't beat until you get stronger.
I'm loving the tweaks and changes they've made so far, I really can't stop playing.

Enemies no longer scale according to your level. The thing you're trying to fight is simply too strong for you right now.

Go back at later levels and you'll have a chance.

Not all enemies scale. Quite a few have set levels, which obviously means if you run into a level 30+ Master Vampire or Thug, you're dead. Just avoid those monsters for now until you're a higher level. Have fun! :)

I've been encountering difficult enemies but ended up easily beating them due to terrible AI. Really often enemies just stand there looking at me while I blast them with spells.

Dragon Priest AI is garbage.

I found one of those. Took 10 minutes and 20 mana potions. And lots of sprinting/shouting.

Yes, and it's great.

You shouldn't be able to kill everying you run into early on in the game.

I think this is intentional.

If you could defeat every single creature you encounter, then there is no sense of danger and the game is a joke.

You need to tread carefully and RUN, yes, RUN, if you find yourself outmatched.

REMEMBER the creature who bested you and pay him another visit in 10 levels...

I remember in Oblivion investigating something "sinister" in the Sewers under a big city. I easily killed all the rats and bandits down there. Then I walked into a room with a Vampire Mage in it and he 2-shotted me. So, I avoided that spot for a couple levels, went back and WHOOPED HIS ASS.

I went into Blood Throne or something like that. (Playing on highest difficulty mind you) Got my ass handed to me by vampires. Said [censored] you. Came back in, lure them into the flaming trap in the entrances and beat the [censored] out of them. I was level 4. Found the Master Vampire, shot him with an arrow, he came down from his throne and towards me. I just shut the activator door, and he started glitching in it and being all helpless. 40 arrows later he was dead and I was level 6. Good loot too.

I played with lowest settings the first night. So my actor fade was set incredibly low.
Needless to say I got my ass handed to me by a nearly invisible Spriggan.
But with actor fade it's all good.

I don't seem to have stumbled onto too many hard enemies. Just Giants that growl me away when I get close.

I actually like the changes so far much better than everything being too easy - Another thing is to be sure to watch out for those trap triggers - stepped on one in the first cave I was exploring (the golden claw quest) and was dead in a few seconds when that door swung shut and knocked me across the room. ( Just be sure to keep Auto save on and make several quick saves as you go. )

It's supposed to be this way.

I died once to a bandit leader or something, but came back and with a better strategy, I manage to kill him.
But giants are really tough. One hit sent my character flying 30ft to the skies, instantly dead.
And Todd Howard said that they're nice guys.

Maybe when you're playing in Toddmod.

A Flame Atronach and a Saber Toothed Tiger both owned me several times until I fled, but they're all that I've had problems with.

i don't know how lowlvl play is, because i entered Riverwood with lvl 7, but had no problems with 1h + shield + heavy armor
really hard was a cave with master vampire, blood vampire and 3 vampire thralls

dragons seem too easy

my advice, stay close to roads and get xp first if you are under lvl 10

I play on expert a sneaky character with bow, dual wield and restoration, dragons are a pain, to hard to hit with bow if they only fly if they land they are doable with some health potions,, i beat a master vampire cause of the stupid AI at level 10, giants can be killed by climbing some rocks and shoot them with bows or the use of rivers seems they cant walk through a 2m deep water lol, worsed enemies i found yet are ice mages dual cast can 2hit me at level 20 with 200 hp only enemie i couldnt beat with quicksave and quickload were i had to drop difficulty :sadvaultboy:

the worsed thing after the ui is for me that every enchanted item i found is level scaled random loot, and the bonuses are really weak and missing some variety cant remember 1 item with more then 2 bonus enchanted

And i can only equipe 1 ring now ?! wtf
