Anyone else like playing with the music off?

Post » Thu Jul 26, 2012 5:03 am

Because of a glitch, the music wasn't playing as I was walking from Morthal to Solitude through the marsh. I play with a headset on because I really feel like it helps to bring me into the game world better. Anyway, as I stood there just listening to the night sounds, I found that I really liked not having the music playing over it. Don't get me wrong, I love the music in Skyrim, but playing as though you were actually there is also very cool.

Playing with no music always adds more immersion for me.
Fighting a dragon with no music is still just as epic. you can hear every aspect of the battle clearly.

I love it. I never know when something is creeping up on me. Feels more real and asdds to the immersion.

I can't seem to play without music. I just love the soundtrack too much, and it makes Dragon fights so much more epic to me.

I only like to play certain Beowulf soundtracks when a Dragon fight/City battle takes place.

Other than that; yeah i like playing with the music off. Sometimes it can actually bug for me and continue to loop the town theme which is mostly calm and not fitting for a battle.

I tend to play with it on sometimes, but then the music is too loud at times so I just turn it off.

Nope! I love the music. It is possibly the best game music that I have ever had the privilage of listening to. Music in games has come a long way. There's nothing more annoying than listrening to the old Mega Man music.

I love the music, have done in every Elder Scrolls game I've played. That being said, I very rarely play with the music. I listen to the main theme when I load up the game, and after that it's just the sounds of Nirn.

Personally, I've never played with it off. Jeremy Soule is a genius and I love to hear his compositions. His music has always been a huge part of the Elder Scrolls experience.

I go in cycles. I love the music in all the Elder Scrolls games but after a few hours I get tired of hearing the same songs over and over again and turn it off. I begin to miss the music and turn it back on. I get tired of hearing the same songs over and over and turn it back off again.

And so it goes.

I have my music turned down, but not off. I still want to be able to hear it, but I want to hear the sounds of the game as well.

For me, its music that adds immersion as opposed to a lack of it. When the music's playing, I can look away from the screen for a few moments but still feel connected to the game. Without the music, I feel like I've lost that connection and therefore need to spend that extra bit of time 'getting in the zone'.

Plus Jeremy Soule's compositions are just mind-blowing.
