Anyone else mess up their character?

Post » Mon May 14, 2012 12:01 pm

It took me a bit to figure out the levelling system and I spent points in places I really shouldn't have. This game is so long it's not realy worth starting over. I'm on the 360 and no mods either I guess. Does the game have anything that allows you to adjust your appearance or any of your stats?

There is no option to adjust appearance or move perks for the console version, your only choice is to start anew.

Unfortunately, no.

now my Sword+Board khajiit has a bad hairstyle, and my Two-handed berzerker has two useless perks hanging out in destruction.

It is the exact opposite. The game is so long and rich that you have to start over to explore all of it. TES games have the highest replayability of any series I have ever seen.

I see a conflict here.

To answer you question though, yes I have. There is no way to reverse any skill/stat point decisions (unless you're on PC). Since you don't want to start over, you will have to live with it and continue on.

Me, I stopped playing my mage because I didn't like how I progressed and picked skills. Haven't deleted him (yet), but I will probably start a new one once I finish the game with my melee or archer.

that's the thing i'm like level 20. Does anyone have any idea how many hours of gameplay that is? My character isnt that messed up. But there are like 3 points id like to change. Plus my appearance svcks. I think i chose the wrong race.

I don't know what world you are living in but I'd like to have a life at some point.

I didn't mess up, per se, but I did something that is very questionable lore-wise: I specced my Redguard to use war axes instead of swords. Silly me, not remembering the Book of Circles and whatnot.

Yeah. I screwed up my Dark Elf. Still played it for 30 hours plus, but I started an Orc that I am building very specifically.

I'll probably start another Dark Elf later.

Why pick a bad hairstyle etc? if your planning on playing the game with that character then why get something that svcks in the first place?
the perk system is not hard to figure out..if you are a warrior/rogue and not using magic go into health stamina, if your magic...go into health and magicka..and just use perks that fit the style you want to play for instance if you are a warrior using a shield add perks to your block your 1 handed and heavy armour etc

I don't know why Bethesda didn't give us an option to reset the points. I play a melee char with a sword and board and I have points scattered everywhere....I think I have one in lockpicking...which is pointless considering I can get any lock besides master without breaking a pick and I have over 300 lockpicks.

Would have been nice if they had added an option for enchanter NPCs to do some ritual on you for say....450 gold, that would undo ONE point spent.

Yeah I kinda got to the point with my first character where i just started putting points to try things out.

IMO
the 5% soul capture...not worth it. Shielding perks extremly lack luster.

Plus im not a fan of my imperial...looks so dirty.

Im not a min/maxer but I like to have perks selected that make sense to the character I am trying to create.

I'll prob be clicking that new game button tonight!

I am not sure what is meant by messing up a character.
Weaknesses can lead to a deeper role play experience and challenges.

Well it depends on how BAD you screwed your character. If you misplaced a few levels of stats or a few perks it doesn't matter much in the long run. My first character I placed a perk in enchanting, 1 hand, destruction, alchemy, illusion, alteration, lockpicking, sneak, bows, and restoration. So that character was screwed because he was ok at many things but never excelled at anything. I honestly wouldn't start over for cosmetics (especially since I play FPV) but if you screw up your perks as bad I did rerolling is a very good idea :P
