Anyone else replaying Dark Messiah of Might and Magic for so

Post » Thu Oct 25, 2012 11:01 pm

Just started replaying it and they did much better with the animations in Dishonored than in DMMM. You can definitely see a lot of areas they took some inspiration though. The field of view in DMMM is a bit much though. Glad they tossed that out. Both games have totally different art styles though.

Need to play more of DMMM though to get a better feel. Anyone else doing this or willing to do this? Kind of a side by side comparison.

Love that game. I've only ever done one playthrough and that was back in 2006 when it launched. I'm due for another playthrough. I loved Dishonored, but i'd go as far as saying I like DMMM even more.

Idk, Dishonored Improved DMMM formula quite a bit. The game feels rough incomparison and I cannot help comparing the two. However DMMM has some features that are nice like a fully bodied protagonist despite the FP perspective. So looking down you can see your characters body. Sareth is voiced. You have multiple weapon and armor choices. Many types of spells. Different classes are available to play as. It is a longer game. It also just doesn't have the same quality to ot though. Dishonred just feels smoother and more polished. As you would expect because of the studios natural progression in the genre.

I did, yes. Enjoyed it a lot. The dungeon crawls when you're looking for all the gems are just freaking awesome. They remind me a lot of Down in the Bonehoard -- in a very good way.

While eagerly awaiting Dishonored, I bought DMMM as well as the Thief and Hitman collections during the Steam summer sale, but haven't had a chance to try any of these yet.

Nah..... I *am* having a merry lil' nostalgia trip through Thief Gold with the new tfix patch that apparently came out recently, offering all kinds of improvements
for playing the game on a modern system.

Hehe, I replayed Thief Gold just the week before Dishonored was released :)

I might move on to Metal Age, I'm kind of a roll here.... my stealth instincts all honed and fine-tuned with all the sneaking games I've been
playing as of late ;)

You know what?

I have not played any of DMMM, Thief series, or Hitman series, but from the games that I have played, Dishonored seems like a kind of combination of some good parts of NOLF (No one lives forever), Fallout 3, and Deus Ex, and of course Assassin's Creed.

The game-play is a bit like NOLF, the stealth, the gear, the scenarios, and the lot.
The setting, is a bit like Fallout 3, as you are in a kind of post-apocalyptic parallel universe combined of oldish setting and modern technology.
The concept is kinda like Deus-Ex, as you can upgrade your abilities, a few levels, and solve the situations at hand, in a lot of different ways, depending on your previous actions and your current abilities and gear.
And no-one can deny that it is a lot like Assassin's Creed, as you are given a target to annihilate, and you have to find your way toward the atrget and do the job, in anyway that you can.

And I'm loving the result a lot. Well done Arcane, and Bethesda. :)
