Anyone else think Horse Combat is awkward?

Sure, it's awkward, but Bethesda has no experience with horse combat and it wasn't their priority, so I'm not surprised. I didn't buy Skyrim for horses, so it doesn't bother me - if I want decent horse combat, I play Mount&Blade.

I haven't had any problems with hit detection. Just the opposite, actually. If I'm even anywhere close to something I'm trying to hit in melee - if It's on the side I'm swinging at.. It's getting hit.

The horse absorbing some of the damage you take is what gets me. I have stopped using it entirely because without fail - every single time - my horse'll die in one or two swings or arrows.

I use shadowmere and that horse does not seem to die. If he does just re-spawns at the stable.

I might use the horse more often then. The problem is I can run faster and longer than my horse. Even though the combat is a bit clunky it's nice that they added this feature.

Very awkward. I can't stand the horses in Skyrim anyway, so it didn't really make a difference. I wish Skyrim had horseback gameplay like Red Dead Redemption (minus the guns of course).

The archery perk that slows the time down while you aim REALLY improves the quality of mounted ranged combat

Nah. Meele can be hard to use up close, but is easy if you use drive-by;s.

it seems to me that with melee combat you can only hit enemys to your side and no farther than 5 feet away. adn arrow shots arc down faster than normal.

I take it you like to have an entourage when you travel. :P

That must make horse riding a bit tedious having to go slow all the time. I personally never bother with "followers" simply because they get in the way to much and only slow me down.

I want to know why sometimes when using a crossbow from horseback I have crosshairs, and sometimes I don't. It's very annoying
