Anyone else with black screen ?

Post » Thu Sep 09, 2010 5:37 am

There is one big problem, that has also been in the demo for me. After i play fo a while, the game freezes, then goes to black screen, sometimes i even loose the connection with the monitor, after a few seconds, the screen goes back to normal, and i can play on like nothing ever happened... It only happens with this game. I`v run every possible benchamark, cpu, memory, gpu, all work fine... Latest drivers for everything, fresh win 7 x64 install. It also happens in mp, so its not a compaign issue only...Anyone else experianced similar problems, and managed to fix em. Oh and my graphics card aint overheating...

I have a black screen period. I can't even load into the game, just starting it causes it to just crash.

Am i the only one with this problem ? Also tried different gtx 560ti drivers, same problem.. Nothing is working for me. Tried turning on vertical sync, different settings in control panel, same ****. The interesting thing is it works fine with my older card, which is an ati 4870 1GB version. Once again the card is not overheating, i dont even reach max load temeprature which is about 75°c, so its not overheating.. Could it be driver incompatibility or something else. Suggestions please...

gtx 560ti
You'll notice something when you look at these kind of problems. The GTX 560 Ti svcks. Big time. I'd even guess you have a card from GigaByte. They're the worst.
Had a SOC-1000 and Crysis 2 Demo crashed the driver (this is what's causing the black screen). Card was faulty. Now I have a SOC-950 as a temp replacement and guess what? Crysis 2 crashes the drivers. Same for you, same for another one on this forum (posted in PC section).
And since this happens to me in Dragon Age 2 as well, it's not the game but the card or the drivers.

I'll try the new GTX 590 drivers with a modded INF now and hope that it's not the friggin' card...again.

If it would be the card, then this would not be the only game that i have problems with...

No i dont get a system reboot, i can play the game normally. First freeze, then usually black screen for a few secs, then the screen comes back up, and i can play normally again... No fps drop. I`v run all kinds of benchmarks, including cpu and video ones, and no errors there... And this is the only game that causes this kind of problems... Its either the game, or the graphics card....

If it's not the card, why does reducing the GPU clock from 950 to 915 fix the problem?

Found a solution ! A have a gtx 560 TI OC from Gigabyte (GV-N560OC-1GI). The voltages for the card are set too low by default... Upped from around 970 mV to 1050, and now it works like a charm in single and multiplayer... If that dont work try setting core clock to 822 MHz, and memory to 1900 MHz, which is default factory clock settings for non OC editions.... If you are still experiancing problems, then its either a bad card, or PSU...
This kind of card requires at least 31A 12V rail and 500 W minimum PSU...

I'll try the voltage solution as well. At least with my SOC-950 from Gigabyte it's still running cool enough.
It's quite strange though, that Gigabyte obviously undervolts a lot of their 560 OCs.
Makes me hope that my SOC-1000 is indeed faulty since overvolting a card that already runs at 97°C isn't a very good idea.^^
