Anyone else worried about the Midnight release?

Post » Tue May 08, 2012 3:48 am

I am always freaked out about Midnight releases. Gamestop ALWAYS has a shortage of games even though they are exclusivley a game store. Freakin Best buy has more games than gamestop. Anyone else worried about a shortage of games come midnight release?

Nah, I called them today. The girl there said I could roll up at 11PM or later and that it wouldn't be that crazy. Not like MW or anything.

No. No one in my area even knows what Skyrim is save for myself and maybe 10 kids from each school. Fewer still even care enough to buy it.

Everything will be fine. I'll just bring an axe and get the first copy.

Nah...can't imagine many people at ASDA at 12am. Lol, if they are i will be surprised. Especially if they are thinking like me, and going to get Skyrim.

I spent $150 a month in advance they don't have my box full of goodies for me on the correct platform I'm going to be some kind of pissed off. I've never had an issue in the past, though.

Unfortunately (or fortunately, depending on how you look at it), TES doesn't seem to have the zombie-like fanbase of the COD series, so I don't think midnight releases (at least in certain areas of the world) will be as maddening. I think you'll be fine when it comes to getting the game.

No, my GS always has more than enough copies for those who preordered. We had over 350 people at the MW3 midnight release, and they had I think 9 boxes full of 360 copies and 5 of ps3. Not sure how many games are shipped in a box, but I know its a very large amount.

gamestop does a midnight release if they have at least 50 pre orders. MW is only to blame if everyone preordered that instead of skyrim. their loss if that is the case

If you've pre-ordered, that won't be a problem. Like me. :)

yeah, i'm pre-ordering my collector's edition tomorrow at Futureshop. I dunno if they charge extra for pre-orders or what but for me it's worth it to be guaranteed my copy to take home Friday.

I have a very small GameStop in my town, but they are having two midnight releases this week. I'll call them tomorrow afternoon just to make sure all's ready to go and then I'll be there at 10:00 I guess. I hope they'll let me read the strategy guide while I wait for two hours.

This is true, i said to a mate there would be a bigger gathering for the COD release in this area than TES. Same with GTA releases too.

Gamestop has a 30% trade in bonus, too, for the midnight release. Really good deal.

Indeed. I do enjoy the COD series for what they are, but that fanbase will literally buy anything that has the name on it, regardless of the "$60 map pack" insults hurled their way.

And also, if you pre-ordered the game OP, you have nothing to worry about. That's what the pre-order is there for.

Pretty sure Midnight releases are based upon the total number of people who pre-order the game, skyrim is going to be huge. It's ranked like #3 on the charts and that was last weeks it's probably ranked #1 on the charts now that bf3 and mw3 are out of the way.

If pre ordered I have never had GameStop fail me. They always have all the games that they promise. Outside of pre orders I don't know.

The MW3 release could have potentially reduced the # of people at Skyrim's midnight release. That and Halo and AC:R come out next Tuesday.

No. I'll probably be the only person there. Most gamers in my area are war game fanatics. Even on the biggest releases there really isn't much fuss. I could probably not even pre-order but still just buy the game and that goes for any big release. IMHO, most of the ta do about nothing is created by the hype machine by people who live in bigger cities. In the boons it's never a big deal. I pre-ordered so I could get the collectors edition. That's all.
