I can't see why Bethesda didn't personalise them a little more, ala unique artefacts (or at least consistent weapons with personality). I assume it was to accomodate multiple playstyles, but the weapons come off as bland, cheap and careless when they're meant to be highly sentimental tokens to be treasured.
It's a shame. If they were anything decent, I'd hang them up or maybe even use them. As things are, I simply disenchant them or stash them in some dusty old container to be forgotten.
Oh, and this goes for rewards for promotion in the civil war questline as well. Whilst scaled loot lacking any personality whatsoever is bad enough as a memento of when you made Quaestor, I had the biggest dissapointment of my life when
Spoiler even the final reward in the civil war questline was generic crap you might loot in any Oblivion cave. Seriously, Tullius' sword is some crappy level-specific blade with a mediocre enchantment? How about making it consistent, or giving it some personality with a skin, or, heaven forbid, at least naming it Tullius' Sword?
I was expecting a worthy token that would forever represent that proud moment I became a Legate, and instead I got rubbish. One of those covered Imperial helms would be nice, or Tullius style armour. Sigh.
