These did not actually remove the trails BUT your post made me realize I only needed to "suspend" them until the arrow was far enough away from the player to prevent the issue I had with them. So fArrowMinDistanceForTrails did the trick nicely!

Tried fArrowMinDistanceForTrails and/or fArrowMinSpeedForTrails?
Edit: fProjectileDefaultTracerRange perhaps...
