Anyone like 2H warriors?

Post » Wed Jul 25, 2012 4:28 pm

My first character was a Nord two hander, and I loved it. I beat the main quest, and put more hours into him than any other character. Now I am thinking of playing one again - only with better perk choices now that I know the game better (no lockpicking).

1) Do you guys like 2H warriors?

2) I was thinking of trying the bound battleaxe - how much magicka do I need, and how powerful is it?

I never have liked two handers. I hate all weapons that mean being slower. Unless it was that gunblade I found in my heavily modded Morrowind. That was just amazing...

I like my two-handed warrior, but I prefer one-handed by a long shot. And Bound Battleaxe is an apprentice level spell, it's base cost no perks/and no skill in conjuration is 160 magicka.

1. I started an Orc roleplay character and it made me realize warhammers are definitely my favorite weapon type in the game, so yes I love 2H warriors.

2. It's pretty strong, especially after you get mystic binding. I am sure people will tell you to go smithing and all that to become super duper powerful, but doing that isn't what the game is about. Do what you like, and I am certain you will like using a summoned, blue-flamed axe!

Need a base of about 186 magicka to use Bound Battleaxe, iirc. That's if you don't have any perks put into Conjuration. The number might be lower than what I remember, but it's still more than 100 magicka you have at the start.

And yes, I too love two handed warriors. Most of my characters I've created were built around that. The only complaint I have is the lack of proper "sheathing" for two handed weapons. Greatswords need actual sheaths, and battleaxe's and warhammers need to be slung over the shoulder...instead of hanging magically in mid-air. :glare:

So if I get the apprentice level perk for conjuration, I will be able to cast it with my default 100 magicka?

1; Love 'em! The kill moves are awesome.

2: Never tried it, prefer Ancient Nord.

Yeah, With the perk it should be around 70-80 magicka, depending on conjuration skill.

Once made an Orc Warrior that uses only two-handed weapons. I got to about level 11 before I could no longer get fun out of it. I can't just hack and slash all day, I need a variety of things. That's why I am a fan of Battlemages and Nightblades.

There is a know bug with bound axe's, I pretty much found it in the game in 1.1 I have never seen it fixed in patch notes. Basically the bug is that you cast it but you dont get a weapon and are instead stuck without a weapon but trapped in the 2h pose. You cant cast, cant sheath, and cant attack with the bug. Only workaround I know of is sitting in a chair and standing again.

What do you guys think of this build? I would like to be able to go between light and heavy armors. I might not even use archery at all to make it more of a challenge.

I want a Nord, but I am thinking of trying a female....I don't know if I could get into a female character though. Seems kind of weird with me being a guy.

EDIT: the build: http://skyrimcalculator.com/#163892

No offense, but using perks on both light and heavy armor seems like a waste to me...

I play a nord two handed warrior too...use illusion on the side and don't use archery perks at all. If you don't use them though, keep in mind you'll have to duck and cover when a dragon is hovering around and torching everything.

I never was a 2H fan. Tried it on my first character, got bored and switched to dual-wielding.

Since you invested in Two-Handed, if I was you I'd add perks into Limbsplitter, Deep wounds or Skull crasher, depending on which Two-Handed weapons you prefer. There were loads of discussions, but in total 75% armor ignore perk with Warhammer seems to be really handy, tried it myself, altho I prefer Limbsplitter with battle axe, makes my Nord look badass with it.
But yeah in incoming levels I would invest in some of those three, because you can tell the difference later on.

My suggestion is to go with light armor if you prefer greatsword or battleaxe. And pick heavy armor if you prefer warhammer.

Yes, really like the 2-handers. The finishers on dragons are spectacular, and I like the brute force and ultraviolence of the combat. My last two characters have gone into the 2-H tree quite a bit - my Jordis the Sword-Maiden roleplay, and Maximus bro-Fist my Orc "Destroyer" who combines 2-H with fire spells, fire enchanter and unarmed. Here's a couple of 2-H gameplay videos I made. The first is Jordis the Sword-Maiden clearing Kolskeggr on expert, and the second is the Orc clearing Swindler's Den during "In My Time of Need" on master difficulty. The racial power for Orcs is beastly - love it!

Buit a tanky Nord dual wielding swords and it work better than it did with me using 2H weapons. I never really got into those class of weapons really. That's just me

Raw power=awesome. Two Handed warriors are fun, mine specializes in the Battle Axe and I love rushing another fellow enemy warrior or most of all, a Mage using that "coward's" magic, and over powering them.

I love 2H warriros. The first character I made is one. He wields a legendary Daedric Warhammer, very badass.

I have very little experience with Bound Weapons, sorry.

My first character mainly used her greatsword, and I loved it! I combined it with light armor, a combination that could be fine, but unfortunately I didn't really plan my perk choices very well, so once she got past level 40, she was beginning to seem pretty weak.

I'm more into magic and archery for the moment, but I think I'd like to do a 2H/LA character again, but make the build a lot more focused, learning from my mistakes the first time. :)

I played a two-handed Wood Elf a while back. I usually play stealthy characters, but I really enjoyed that playthrough. I'll probably play another two-hander soon, maybe a Khajiit.

I prefer my two-handed axe over one-handers any day. Great fun staggering opponents then chopping their heads off.

I used to love 2h in oblivion but they are just WAY too slow on skyrim. Don't know the perks so is their a way to improve that? If the attack speed could be increased i will definitely try it next character. That being said I find the one hand swords slow too.
