You can talk about what you know. Just be quiet about where you know it from. Edit the post and the thread might survive.

id like to know.

Spoiler
well there may be a few inaccuracies here, im sure some others will be able to correct but what iv seen so far from multiple places are
steel: there are a considerable amount of variations, the normal steel, a more "heavy" version, a "Nordic" style and another which im quite unsure of the name i think it was "cuffed" or something. i think there may have been different weapons also. example - steel long sword, Nordic steel long sword.
imperial: In the imperial section there was a standard version and a heavier version quite like the steel.
hide: i saw quite a few variations of hide armour. ranging from light in appearance to heavy.
fur: is basically the same as hide.
There is also a load of different head gear in each category.
these armours are all made with materials from scratch you dont need to upgrade to get a different appearance.
also none of these armours needed perks so here is hoping that the variations will continue into the higher rank armours.

any other questions on this id be glad to answer, not sure i covered everything above

edit/ added something else in i just remembered

This isn't really a spoiler, I mean we've known that there are armour variations from the very start, when we looked at the screenshots with iron and hide armour in them.

I wonder if all the race specific armours come in light and heavy variants then...

What I want to know is this. Can you forge dwemer and such into a light variant and vice versa? And does Steel finally have multiple variants like Chainmail for example being made of steel but still falls under the steel category in smithing? Eg light and heavy variants for common materials?

im not specifically sure about race armours since what i seen was on a nord and imperial which are both similar in appearance thus the armours were also.

from the variations i see no reason for there not to be multiple weight classes of dragon armour as well as dwemer, although that's my own opinion i have no proof. As for the steel there most defiantly is different styles just not sure if they fall under heavy or light classes, im pretty sure i saw a type of "mail" under the steel category but its weight class im unsure of, sorry.

yep i can see the modders having a easy time when it comes to making more armours, i mean from what iv seen it is a massive improvement over the other tes games, even in look and detail.

Definately, it reminds of the smithing system in NwN where you could change any part of the armor
