Anyone notices anything when you're a 'High elf'?

Post » Fri Aug 10, 2012 2:04 am

I recently started my 'High Elf' female to replay the Dark brotherhood quest and be to make the game realistic (No fast travel, need sleep, need food) but I keep getting 'negative' responses from Stormcloaks (attacks me and calls me Thalmor [censored]) and the most interesting thing is............... when I went into a inn near Windhelm called "Nightgale" Inn I think. Rent myself a bed and yet I couldn't be allowed to sleep to dawn because there were enemies nearby.... If any of you notice that in this inn there's a drunk who drowns away his bad "memories". Turns out He's a blade fugitive and attacks me and accused me of being a "Thalmor Hunter"... I killed him since he attacks me and gain myself a nice blade sword for my low-level character... a blade sword with its damage stats at 30...

Sounds like a mod. The only blade fugitives in Skyrim by default are Esbern and Delphine.(Both of which are permanently essential and unkillable)

I have played 3 High Elf characters, and have never had any issues with Stormcloaks, or anyone else. The biggest difference I found between playing a High Elf and say, an Nord is a when a merchant sometimes would look at me and say "What do you want, little elf?"

I never got this either, with any of my Altmer. In fact, I'm playing one right now.
Tell me your secret, OP.

There actually is a drunk at the Nightgate Inn who's rumored to be a former Blades agent - I haven't investigated it myself though (console here, no mods).

The rest sounds weird though. I mean, that's a common complaint, that there's so much talk about racism, hatred between the races and so on, but when it comes to the PC, apart from a few greetings no one seems to care.

I've had the man attack me before. I was a Khajiit at the time so I don't think it was strictly because you were an elf. I think I was in the middle of a DB quest and on my quest notes I still had Diplomatic Immunity to finish...

I'm on Xbox so no mods here.

Are you a member of the Imperial Legion? I don't know about any conenction, but it could be that since the Stormcloaks will be more hostile to you as a legionnaire they assume you are Thalmor if you side with the Empire. Just a speculation of course, with nothing to back it up.

I was on the xbox playing as an imperial and had the thalmor attack me, I'm was pretty sure it was un-prevoked.

You either:
1. Got too close to them and didn't back off
2. You hurt/killed/did something against them so they sent an assassination squad after you...

I think the Legion thing might be spot on since I (think) I had part of the Civil War quest to finish... Never mind, turns out I hadn't started the Civil War.

It was a long time ago she was a goodie two shoes mage who was pretty weak, so I wasn't out to ruffle feathers. I know getting in their faces works, done that plenty of time with my Khajiit.

I've never heard of this. It's either a mod, or you've been hitting the skooma.

There's an old guy there drinking away 'bad memories' and he has a Blades Sword on his person.

Bit hard to mod the xbox, Skooma sounds nice but wonder if it's like Absinthe?

Here's something from a site that says what it might do. I read through the source cited, but it doesn't say it explicitly, so this is fanon or might not be. It makes sense, though.

"This water-pipe smoked narcotic commonly causes both a dull eyed 'zombie like' state of lethargy as well as powerful fits and seizures."

Skooma is more like weed that makes you hyper.

Absinthe makes you drunk but alert, you even feel your veins pulsing.

Okay. Never knew of its effects. Skooma could be a mix between weed and absinthe.

I would love it if the Stormcloaks actually became hostile to my Legion characters, but outside of Civil War battles, it just isn't the case. *sigh* What a disappointment.

Actually they can become hostile to Legion characters. If you enter their camps they will attack after a short time, but I am not sure if they will attack if you juet meet them as they patrol the land.

It's ridiculous for them to warn off Legion characters instead of immediately attacking - there's a war going on, for crying out loud! Patrols are rarely, if ever, hostile.

Considering what you're capable the tactical decision would be not to start a fight with you, but to report you're in the area and gather three to or four patrols together.
