Anyone one else slightly dissapointed about no Dragons exist

Post » Thu Aug 23, 2012 2:22 am

I decided to try out Skyrim after so many people recommended it to me, and I am hacing so much fun with it. I am, however a bit dissapointed that the so-called Dragons (4 legs+2 wings) are actually Wyverns(2 legs+2 wings). I feel like a a Wyvernborn. Did this bother some of you too?

They're still dragons to me, but I wouldn't mind haveing a second type like the ones you thought were going to be in the game.

No, as Skyrim's dragons have hands at the end of their wings.

I'll say what I said about why Skyrim isn't as sixist as real history was: Different world, different rules.

Well it would kind of svck if you didn't understand anything throughout the whole game.

No, I'm actually happy they chose Wyverns over 'normal' dragons. Wyverns kind of follow the anatomical structure of bats and pteranodons. Traditional European dragons may be fantasy creatures, it's always looked weird to me how they possessed six legs (four + two wings, which are actually attached to legs). It's like they're massive insects. It doesn't make sense at all from a biological point of view, but that's probably me overanolyzing things.

The way I look at it, Wyverns, Wyrms, the Chinese Dragons, and all the other varieties are different types of creatures that fall into the category of Dragons. I view them all as dragons, and these names and types distinguish the various types of species that can all be classified as "Dragons."

Not really. Four legged dragons have a greater potential to be awkward looking imo.

Still disappointed Bethesda didn't get Sean Connery to voice a dragon. Paarthurnax would have been a good choice, or maybe another friendly dragon. I would have loved it.

Especially if he said "I am the last one!"

Not every dragon in fantasy follows http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/OurDragonsAreDifferent.

(heh, there's a thought - wouldn't it have looked wacky if they'd used Chinese dragons instead of Western dragons? :D)

It'd have made Unbound look a lot more interesting. It'd be great to have seen Alduin curled around the tower you take refuge in, rather than just perched next to the hole in the wall.

If a Chinese like dragon would have land on the Blades temple in the Reach it would have totally fit.

Would certainly be an interesting concept to add in DLC as a variety of dragons from other areas of the world, but then would it also spoil the main goal of skyrim? I'm torn between the two. They still impress me every time I battle one.
