Anyone play Harvest Moon games?

Post » Tue Oct 02, 2012 6:03 pm

Behind Pokemon, Harvest Moon is my favorite game series that I can think of (I'm a bit of a childish advlt  )

My first one was Friends of Mineral Town on the GBA, which is still one of the best IMO.

Right now I'm still going through Harvest Moon DS (I skipped it and went straight to Island of Happiness) and am loving it. (Though it is stupidly easy to get money since there is an easy gambling system)
I've also had a few romps with the console games, but Harvest Moon is always the best on a handheld.

After trying to convince my CoDbot friend that its not just farmville, hes been playing it regularly now.
His words were "Its a stupid premise with stupidly repetitive gameplay, but I can't put it down."

Anyone else like the games?

I do. Though I haven't since 'it's a wonderful life' on gamecube. Great series.

I played Rune Factory on DS a few years back, and remember really enjoying it. I think I agree with your friend's comment.

Yep, I played Friends and More Friends. Don't remember the difference. :P

But yeah, great games. I would always mess up real bad and waste all my money, or buy the wrong things and be forced to wait months before making any progress, but I guess that's part of the fun. Can't make it too easy, now can they?

More friends had a female protagonist instead of the usual male one.

I'm amazed at some stupid decisions I made when I was first playing FoMT when I was younger. I remember I wasted a lot of money upgrading my Sickle, which was mostly useless because you could just pick up the weeds and not have any stamina taken away, I just thought it was badass.

I simply adored Harvest Moon back when I was playing it. I believe I played one on the Game Boy Color, another on GBA, and also a bit on the Playstation (though I never beat that one.)

I think my favorite was Mineral Town on GBA ( I think that's the right one.)

Very addictive little games with a surprising amount of things to do, stories to follow, and a satisfying ending that reflected how you did in the game.

Yep, ever since the first one for SNES. I own most of the console games, as well as Friends of Mineral Town and Harvest Moon DS.

On occasion, I'll be picking up the new one that is coming out soon.

Edit
Tomorrow I'll go preorder. I want that little Yak toy.

I used to love Harvest Moon, though I haven't played it in a long time. My favorite installment will always be the first one for the SNES.
