Anyone think Karliah is a mix between Dunmer & Falmer? : V

I'm only assuming this, because she has purple eyes and the Eyes of the Falmer (Gems in Statue in Irkngthand) are purplish pink.

Rare coincidence or a hope for the Falmers to return to Skyrim?

Come on guys. The game has Mercer desecrating the Holy Statue of the Falmer out of personal vengeance as he is already filthy rich to get back at Karliah somehow. I just can't see the events of the TG questline as pure coincidence.

That would mean that one of her parents was a feral falmer.. who would even think about pro-creating with one? Or maybe her Mom was a falmer slave and they forced them selves onto her. Cuz they do keep slaves.

Hm... given how prolific Barenziah supposedly was, according to one of her biographies: who's supposed to have been the father of this bastard child?

Hrm, according to UESP wiki, it's actually the mother of Karliah we're talking about. Offspring of Barenziah and a guy called Dreyven Indoril - which is clearly a Dunmer name. Karliah's Father is unknown. Now let's assume that the promiscuity of the granny might've remained in the genes of this famliy tree - then the father of Karliah could've been literally anything. Maybe she's part Dunmer, part Khajiit.

edit: UESP wikied it myself.

I find the idea of sentient races mixing with the Falmer a bit unlikely though: issue of the different colour of the souls.

Hate to rain on the parade of decency, but if she was mixed with falmer it was most likely a product of [censored], [censored] topic but most D&D mixes that are far out use that as the origin for the character most of the time... I.e. half orcs.

While I may not be adding much to the discussion, I do believe Karliah's race/background are intentionally ambiguous; I don't know if there's a "real" answer. However, I'd say Falmer ancestry is extremely unlikely.

Also, her accent is quite strange.

I stand corrected. I am curious about her accent though. I understand it's there for flavor, but is there anything in lore suggesting origins of such wild accents? It's certainly unique.

The Falmer can't return when they've been there the entire time. And as has been covered by Cecliff, we already know who Karliah's parents were.

Even if she was the spawn of a Falmer, then it was probably a male Falmer's assault on a Dunmer woman, seeing as the Falmer haven't been themselves in thousands and thousands of years, and Karliah is certainly not that old. Either way, the old Snow Elves that weren't goblins are long gone. One child isn't going to change that.

Well I noted that several Dunmer in Skyrim do not have the red eyes they are supposed to have. Not sure yet how Bethesda justified those liberties.

Hang on, where does it say in that source Karliah was the offspring of son of Barenaiah. It talks about how he was born, but doesn't mention anything about Karliah herself.

That leaves a lot of room for speculation about Karliah's father.
