Anyone totally FREAKED out by the Dwemer?

Post » Fri May 18, 2012 2:44 am

All the dwarven machinery, and the lack of life really freaks me out. Am I the only one? I don't know how far I am in this section, but I hope it ends soon!

I loved the Dwemer ruins in Morrowind and I'm so happy they made a return in Skyrim. They bring me joy, not fear.

I thought I was alone too! Underground kingdom with all the pipes, the machinery, and most of all the goblin-like creatures guarding it all... Gives me chills.

I was freaked out by em in morrowind. I haven't come across them yet in skyrim but I'm sure I'll feel about the same as I did in morrowind.

With daggers it's just mental, they deal 15x critical from stealth... Gotta try a rogue character sometime. :)

Only issue is you need high stealth, and that makes enemies stronger. Makes any fights where you cant use stealth worse. God do I hate scaling.

I love them to death, although my stealth based character hates them because of how much light there is in some places.
That said, I'm glad that they're even creepier in this game than they were in Morrowind - and believe me they were pretty bad back then. Especially the ones with actual Dwemer ghosts and ash piles from when the Dwemer were winked out of existence. That's the only disappointment I've had so far. I miss the Dwemer ghosts..

They freak me out, until I started using archery with my stealth character it was hard for me to sneak up on them.

They're terrifying. For days I've just been saying to people "THEY'RE IN THE PIPES". They laugh now...

Yeah, I was. When I went to
Spoiler
Aftland, BlackReach. Oh my god, that place is totally awesome. Just so deceptively beautiful for how dangerous it was. The giant glowing mushrooms and tentacles hanging from the distant ceiling just blew me away. It just felt so right.

Unfortunately for me the only Dwemer ruin I've found so far is this tower called Reachwind Eyrie. :sadvaultboy: I hope I start finding them.

My first time ever encountering it was terrifying, especially when fal-goblin-things came outta nowhere... The sounds were creepy, the enemies were creepy, and the emptiness and dead excavation members made it worse. To top it all off, near the end I forgot to do something and accidentally activated the robot defenses... Much of the end was spent Fus Do Rahing them off of the bridge while I ran, lol.

Funny thing is, i don't think the Dwemer themselves are actually extinct. When you talk to Falion in Morthal, he mentions that while traveling other planes, he's met Dwemer as well as Dremora.

dont dwell on the fact that the place is lifeless instead focus on the thought of the people that created those ruins the dwemer study what you find try to discern its purpose and neutralize any active machines preferably with non penetrating frost spells so they are inactive but none of the components are damaged dont want the dwemer to be to cross with you when they return :)

According to Morrowind all the Dwemer near the "superweapon" were wiped out but those far away from it were unharmed. All this resurgence of Dwemer tech make me hope that they'll maybe have a sweet add-on where a discover a clan of lost dwemer.
