Found a cave with vampires while I was walking east from the starting area to get to the thief town. Was in the mountains. Not sure of name or exact positioning, was lvl 2 and ran away like a wuss

Nearly became one. Was infected with it after my second run-in with vampires. Stumbled upon a Vigilant of Stendarr northwest of Riverwood, who commented on my affliction and subsequently cured me - free of charge. Had the whole "daylight weakening you" and "nocturnal thirst" thing going on.

Hreirek and his friend from Malthor were exploring the marshes when they happened upon a cave....I think you know what happened next.

I dont understand why you would want to be a vamp. The frost resist is really the only benefit and that isn't worth all the down sides. Can you guys tell me what is good about being a vamp?

It's more for roleplaying tbh, but as an aged vampire you become much more powerful.

Being a vampire can be fun for roleplaying, which a lot of elder scrolls players like to do. Plus the benefits do outweigh the negatives.

I haven't gotten to try actually being a vampire yet, though. Does anyone know how different it is from Oblivions vampire system? (I didn't care for Oblivion vampirism that much)

Cool spells, and the sneak buffs.

So far I can say new spells and slightly different bonuses, I like my character aesthetic changes so far (day 1), eyes of a demon. I'm hoping a can join a clan or have some friendly vamps somehow.

I'm a vampire to a certain degree. I have the vampire seduction. (I think its level 2)

I have 100% resist to disease, poison, resist to frost, etc. 25% lowered chance to be discovered while sneaking, and what not. You are still affected by the sunlight, however you wont die any longer. Now you wont regenerate health, magicka and stamina and have to be inside or in night time to do so. So you will meet your doom if you meet a Dragon in daylight.

You also got the drain attack which is indeed helpful and does not consume alot of magicka. (About 2 for me per second)

I have no intention of taking on the annoyances that being a vampire possesses.

Do you gain the powers like how you did in oblivion? Like if you dont feed the more powerful you are? Or do you actually get stronger the more you feed?
