To anyone with DirecTv

Post » Wed Jul 11, 2012 10:55 pm

So I woke up this morning and after a while I turned the TV on, and I saw this update under comedy central called "Important update about comedy central". I watched it, then googled how many channels I might be losing after tonight, and found out that I could lose 26 channels if DirecTv doesn't make a deal. I already deal with not having G4, but if I have to miss out on comedy central, nick, and other channels I'll be quite irritated.

I just wanted to make this thread to inform anyone with directv who might not already know. And also if anyone has any news on if a deal has been made.

If I wake up tomorrow and these channels are dark, I'm switching to dish >.>

Thank god for cable. (i.e. Direct TV turned me down because I have no credit.)

This stuff happens all the time. Didn't DirecTV have a dispute with News Corp (Fox) awhile back? It usually gets resolved especially if it affects a bunch of channels.

I don't have Direct-TV (OR Cable in general) but last I check, they are the 'losing team' when it comes to TV/Cable..

Charter all the way man. DirecTv goes out almost anytime there is a storm at my dad's house, give me charter anyday.

That's happened with my cable provider too. When the companies can't negotiate a dispute, they punish the customers by disconnecting channels.

So yeah, they did it. 26 channels gone. They have exactly 24 hours to get them back up and make a deal, or I'm switching to AT&T.

Well that is interesting. I have directv in my room (though I never use it). I think they're going to piss a lot of people off...

EDIT: I just checked mine and my Comedy Central is gone. The only channel I ever watch is CC so that is quite lame...

Charter cable tv has had stuff like this happen all the time. It will get down to the cutoff time and they will make a deal. DirecTV has too much to lose by getting cutoff from on those popular channels so I wouldn't worry about it.

Very, and thats pretty much the same with me. I love just about everything on Comedy Central. DirecTv is foolish if they think they can get away with keeping these channels off their service.

Yep Nick is gone... but I don't know the channel because I watch spongebob all the time...

The T.V. is saying that Viacom (people who own the channels) want 30% more monies to watch the channels.

Edit: On the bright side 20 million people can't watch Jersey Shore anymore.

Viacom is in the wrong, and so is directv. They even admitted it was both of their responsibilities to get a deal made. Its funny seeing all these sheaple blaming one or the other, they are both being greedy.

They also said that they are trying to get them back without making us pay a lot, so if that's true then that's good.

And you wont be disappointed. ATT is a pretty good online/cable provider. Expensive, but pretty good, especially the customer service.*

*this is all from my experience with them and could be different for others.

Just..don't go to comcast -.-(what we have now).
