Anyone worried about the graphics quality?

Post » Sat Aug 11, 2012 10:04 pm

I've watched nearly all of the playthrough demonstrations and there some areas where the graphics look poor. For example, in the steam room when the player steams the target to death, the valve wheel looks horrible. I'll be playing on PS3 so I'm a little concerned the graphics won't be as good I would want. Anyone else concerned?

Why should we be concerned about graphics? It doesn't hinder the game's overall quality. It doesn't break the game. They are functioning as intended portraying objects and the world in it's beautiful aesthetic. So no, graphics are not a problem for Dishonored, and nor should they be for any other game.

No, i'm not worried in the slightest. For me, I greatly enjoy games where I can become completely immersed, to the point that I can imagine I'm actually in it. Graphics have rarely, if ever ruined this for me. Halo ce, and Amnesia are probably the two games that have greatly achieved what I look for. Neither sport the best graphics, however the atmosphere, design, and music do the job. I'm sure dishonored will as well.

It took a period of adjustment to get used to proportions for me with the hands and how they looked, but I like it very much now and the costume party has some stunning looking rooms in the mansion. I'm not sure how the wheel should have looked. It was grimy with paint peeled from use and the heat, right? I honestly don't remember anymore.

They look fine to me and besides graphics are one of the most overrated things in games. As long as it reaches the current standard I can live with it.

As long as it's consistent I don't mind.

Skyrim has a bit of an issue with texture consistency sometimes, especially without the vanilla hi res pack. Look at the left part of http://static.skyrim.nexusmods.com/downloads/images/8655-3-1328857309.jpg. The textures on wooden furniture like tables are of rather low quality whereas the bread on it looks way better.

Dishonored has the advantage of having a somewhat cartoony/painterly look to it, which can get away with not having very high resolution textures. That's why it was so smart of Valve that they went with the super cartoony art style for Team Fortress 2, it doesn't really age.

Graphically it looks great to me. All that matters is immersion and good storytelling to keep me motivated.I think a lot of the games success will hinge on its AI. Its great having all these wonderful tools and paths ect,but without a genuinely challenging intelligence it means very little.

No guys, look. I am drunk so take my words with a little grain of salt but I do speak truth when I am drunk. The game's textures at certain places is [censored]. But like I said countless times before textures and polygons matter only to portray the world and the objects and people withing in. What matters truly is aesthetic. Dishonored delivers that in spades. No problem here whatsoever but don't be surrpised when peiople wonder if the graphics are crap.
