I wonder if all the negative PR from suing the pants off everyone is actually doing any damage to Apple? Probably not, I fear.

This.

Also, seeing as they just did the same to Samsung, I don't think they'd even have to be worried about sales anymore they could just keep looking for other companies to sue now. :P

It's a follow up on the same case. :P

And I thought discussing pending trials wasn't allowed here. :ermm:

Only for Bethesda or Zenimax legal stuff. Someone needs to brush up on the finer points of forum rules me-thinks.

what i dont get is how any copyright/trademark can be considered legitimate if multiple companies have tried to take it in the past

Basically, these are the Official Forums of Bethesda and because of that, they have to be careful about what they allow to be posted here. As you know, lawyers are great at taking small things and making big messes out of them. If there is an active case in the courts, postings here could end up in the trial for some arcane legal reason that I probably would roll my eyes at if it was explained to me.

So, you want to talk about the Samsung-Apple Case, go ahead, Bethesda does not publish their games.

I'd say worse, to be honest. Sooo many of the things Apple is litigating over are intangible, subjective, obvious things that they shouldn't have been awarded patents/copyrights for in the first place. I understand some of the trade dress issues they're talking about with packaging and such (and I do believe they should receive damages for some of that), but outside of that so much of what they're making claims about pretty much amounts to fluff and fashion. I mean...things that the fashion industry itself is more lax about. Even worse is that it's not hard to find prior art with regard to a lot of it, so even their ambiguous claims that others are capitalizing on their innovation are pretty dubious. Other companies are benefiting greatly from their marketing efforts for sure, but that's just how it goes, isn't it?

meh, companies sue each other for silly stuff all the time. Both Amazon and Apple offer good products and services as far as I'm concerned.

-snip-

Heck, if the court want to use my post as evidence for something then go right ahead:

You must take all of apple's money and stop them from turning our world into a giant throw away society. Then use their money to grant every child in Africa a well for clean water.
(If only this was how court cases actually worked...)

They've been like this for a long, long time, really. They've been legal trolls for at least three decades.

Yup, lawyers can make a jump from unwed mothers to talking about rocks in the desert of New Mexico, and somehow make it of relevant interest to the case at hand. Not to fond of lawyers after i've seen what some do out there.

In all honesty, i'm just waiting for apple to start suing people for parodying their stuff in TV shows. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EaHUpWuqNHY being a prime example, but after 2 years since the episode aired, I doubt apple has the...seeds to try something.
