Am really sick of this issue. What does it mean ? Rage wont be played on mobile pcs ? Well !! why did nt you state that before I bought it ?
Whey there are laptops which can operate it ? How come there is a fix that enable older models of ATI to work with the game ?

i have the same problem !!!

I've a HP dv7 with NVIDIA graphics and it works. GL_ARB_draw_elements_base_vertex is something that is supported by your driver or not, so it's your driver that is at fault here (true, ID could have written a fallback path but I've no idea how well or badly it would perform).

This problem appears in Laptops with mobile GPUs especially those of hyprid ones ( Switchable Graphics) , in my case , it uses the open GL of intel graphics and not of the AMD and that doesnt make the game run , so i guess that they must release a patch for mobile gpus to make the game run for those having laptops with switchable dynamic graphics , and there is another option to disable the intel graphics from the bios setings , in Sony Vaio there is no option in the bios to do that , in HP and Dell , i guess there is option to do that ( i read it somewhere over the internet ).

It's a driver issue.

I posted a thread a couple of days ago if you have an nvidia video card in your laptop.
It points you to a website to force the new nvidia beta drivers onto your laptop.

Someone with an AMD/ATI video card probably did the same
