Arcade Gannon Companion Bug *spoilers*

Post » Wed Feb 02, 2011 1:21 am

I'm having a bug re-recruiting Arcade Gannon. When I'm doing his companion mission I get to Jacobstown and talk to the doctor. After that I tell him to go back to the lucky 38 so i can take the grandma supermutant to do the doctors quest. When i get back to the lucky 38 there's no option to re-recruit him as a companion. The dialogue option doesn't even show up. But when i recruit another companion then talk to him, it does show up except he can't join me because I already have a follower.

I've tried everything. I've tried to reset him in console. I've tried recruiting a follower then entering the dialogue, removing the follower and trying to get him to follow me again. Nothing works. I did notice when I disable and enable a follower in console there is something like "package sandbox" or "package follower" is there a way to set Arcade as a the follower package? Has this happened to anyone else?

Does anyone know any console commands on the PC to force a companion to be a follower?

Yep, I'm experiencing the same bug. It basically forces you to have him in your party at all times unless you want to permanently lose him. If you're on PC just download the unlimited followers mod, to get other people. But hopefully the next patch fixes this and several other problems.

Drop your dog or ed-e. He should join you. he seems to have a phobia of machine companions.

I think it might be worse than that.

I finished For Auld Lang Syne, and now the option for Arcade to join will not appear at all. I already knew about dismissing ED-E/Rex and trying again, but it doesn't work after For Auld Lang Syne. He just stays in Lucky 38.

I just tried the ED-E/Rex dismissal thing and unfortunately, no dice.

There's a script variable for Arcade that gets set once For Auld Lang Syne is completed which effectively locks out the recruitment option for the rest of the game, no matter what you tell him. I'm not sure if it's deliberate on Obsidian's part or if it's a scripting oversight, but either way, once you finish that quest, he's lost forever.

The good news is that it's easily modded out by removing it from the list of conditions in the dialogue choices through the GECK. :D

Having the same bug, anyone know how to fix it?

I dismissed him to the lucky 38 a while back, and now when I talk to him I only get "What's your opinion on our situation" "Tell me about yourself" and "goodbye" as dialog options.

Oh man I just realized he has the C-finder! And I can't even access his inventory!

Any console commands that will add him to your party? Or anyone know how to fix it in the Geck?

I'm pretty sure he hands everything back to you before he leaves. Or maybe it was just his armor, I'm not sure.

Tell ED-E or Rex to go away.

I'm pretty sure it's intended behavior for Arcade to be un-recruitable after For Ald Lang Syne - just look at the dialogue he has right at the end of that quest.

Then why did he go back to the Lucky 38 then?
