Archery!

Post » Wed May 09, 2012 9:58 pm

I am SO in love with using bows. And I don't know WHAT was being said about not finding very many arrows cause I have like 40. Used my first two level Perks on Archery! :celebration:

Anyone else love using the bows? :)

I got training (non-stat) from a woman in the mountains. :hehe: She sounded Russian or something, and some drunk (on power) Imperial Guards killed her mother and father when she was a little girl. :(

I love the bows! It works great and you have enough arrows. It is great that the enemies are not 100% accurate. As much as I remember you can have bow training at Riverwood too. My only problem is that it is increasing slowly. I'm level 10 and my archery is 30 although I use it all the time. Is it slow for you too?

Hmm, well arrows actually will glance off of rock harshly. They stick into the snow and ground realistically. There's different types, as we've known.

Um, not all THAT much really in my opinion.

AWESOME THOUGH! :D

Na, it's seems like a good speed for me. I have to start a new game already as I messed up, but mine right now is at 25. :)

Main difference, from what I can tell so far after only 2 hours or so, is that it's harder. In Oblivion I always felt like I could start a game, pick up a bow, and sneak attack ANYONE into bloody pincushiouns. In V, theres no nocking an arrow and while your walking, unless you want to go ECRUCIATINGLY slow, which is irritating in intense combat when your trying to back step a melee swing and loose one in a bandits face

Cool, I'm looking forward to making an archery focused character when I finally get my copy next week. Thanks for the info.

I always play an Archer type and yes I really like archery in Skyrim. I feel deadly now as opposed to swatting flies in Oblivion.

Yeah, the bows are tons of fun, SO much more powerful than Oblivion. I can kill Draugrs in like three hits at close range. :)

I was at Level 5, and I'm an Imperial. :)

How is the damage for bows on harder difficulties?

I'm playing on expert, and I'm quite satisfied. I can kill most by one shot since I have 3x multiplier when sneaking, but still have some hard opponents.

Its pretty cool but does anyone know how to cancel an arrow? I thought Todd said we could from the E3 demo, he even showed himself doing it, but I can't find which button to press to cancel an arrow.

You press R (if you didn't change your controls).

Yah, it was some days ago when we saw posts whining about the lack of arrows in the game.
I have no idea what they are talking about as I find plenty of arrows laying around so far.
Now, are they enough for just pure archery? Nah, My char uses melee, magic and archery.
Plenty of arrows though.

They may be too awesome though. I ran into a sleeping bear and managed to take
it out with 4 arrows before it made it to my characters face.
probably lucked out the bear twaddled before making its charge.

I guess it was dopy from sleeping. That was on default difficulty. lvl 3 character.

I definitely love it, especially coupled with stealth for sneaky attacks. I went through almost the whole Riverwatch dungeon just one-shotting everything. I'm usually the melee kind of guy, but it's just so damn fun.

The feel of the draw is nice, and it does take more care to do archery well I think than in Oblivion. I just wish I didn't have to swap out to cast a spell. That was one of the best interface changes from Morrowind to Oblivion -- spell cast on a key independent from the weapon. Oh well.

1. from a distance its hard to see if you are hitting them
2. backpedaling is slowed
3. drawing an arrow slows you too, so kiting is more difficult. I thought Id be able to just turn and run turn and fire like I did in OB, but not so much.

They sound different and the release of the arrow feels much more realistic/badass.

Im playing stealth archer atm with no magic but Ive been thinking about archer+summoner hybrid. Max archery and conjuration, 3 points in sneak to get the crit 4 in light armor for stamina regen. Do whatever you want with spare points, maybe alchemy. I would try if I knew where to get Bound Bow tome.

I've actually noticed quite a difference.....the arrow drop is considerably less.....and it also seems as if there is a kind of recoil effect immediately after shooting the arrows;
i'll aim at an enemy about 10 feet away, and i find i have to aim lower than where i want the arrow to land...kinda odd
