Are Animals Spawned Randomly?

Post » Tue Jun 19, 2012 12:41 pm

I have created a few different races of rabbit, and would like to have them spawn equal to that of the default rabbit, so it gives some variety to the game.

How do I do this?

I made these rabbits by copying the original and editing the skins etc., but I can only ever see the original rabbits in game with the ESP loaded.

Can someone tell me how to get these new species to spawn?

look through the actor list for ones that start with LVL. there should be an lvlrabbits or lvlanimals or something... you have to add your new animals to those.

Most rabbits are spawned from a two leveled lists (you can find them under the Actors tab under 'leveled actors'), And they are something like 'LvlAmbientCreatures' and 'LvlAmbientCreaturesSnow'. Each have about three rabbit and two fox NPCs listed in them. So, there is a 3/5 chance a rabbit will spawn and a 2/5 chance a fox will spawn.

If you add your rabbits to these lists, then they will appear in the game. However, if you want them to spawn at an equal rate, you'll need to add three to each leveled list, and one or two foxes per your three to keep a roughly equal spawn rate (as there are 1.5 foxes per 3 rabbits).

Hope that makes sense!

Hi thanks for the help, I did that, but my new animals never spawn ): Is there something I am missing?

Could the issue be with the textures not applying properly? try re-naming the rabbits to something easy to spot, like hare or bunny, just to test, then go wabbit hunting. If your name appears, you'll know that its the texture. If not, then the problem is more serious.

I got it to work, seems the laws of randomness are against me. I made a few spawners and eventually got a brown rabbit and a snow rabbit, so it works :D

thanks man! I notice you have a great animal mod too! If you are looking for rabbit textures, you are free to use mine, not that they are that good - i'm never going to make something as extensive as that though :D
