Are High Elves supposed to be based on Romulans from Star Tr

Skyrim introduced really angular faces for the high elves, and the Thalmor are really identical to the Romulan empire in attitude.

You have it backwards Elves were described with those features long before StarTrek.

Their faces were always like this, they're just more pronounced now.

Valenwood can be considered Remus, and the Aldmeri Dominion(funny enough the Star Trek large scale war that the Romulans participated in was called The Dominion War) can be considered the Romulan Empire, seeing as they don't particulary care for Valenwood as does Romulas doesn't care for the planet that orbits behind them, Remus. As they are a conquest race, it is accurate to view them as the "Romulans" of TES.

I think you mean Klingons.

And it appears Orcs are based on Klingons, not Altmer.

I have to admit they do look similar. However the AD have a "We are going to end the Age of Man" attitude were as the Romulans were more isolationist.

ps - not factoring in the newest StarTrek movies or Lore as I hate it.

If anything, Nords are closest to Klingons. Both are them are loosely based off of Viking cultures.

Romulans and Vulcans were heavily based on Elves from Tolkien and earlier mythology in appearance. Gene Roddenberry wanted the Vulcans to seem alien and almost "devilish". Maybe Bethesda borrowed some inspiration from Star Trek, who knows? Pop culture frequently feeds off of itself like that:

R.E.Howard's Solomon Kane may have been partially inspired by Bram Stoker's Van Helsing character; the Van Helsing movie title character was obviously based heavily on Solomon Kane; the new Solomon Kane movie char was based on, well the original R.E.H character, but I'm sure many people thought he was based on the movie Van Helsing. Same thing with Alan Quatermain and Indiana Jones, etc. ad nauseam.

Skyrim reintroduced really angular faces for the high elves. They also had angular faces in Morrowind. Oblivion was the game that broke this trend.

I'm glad they changed that in Skyrim. I guess I eventually got used to it in Oblivion, but every race but the beast races looked so similar and bland (but somehow off) that I sometimes had trouble telling races apart. Once I figured out the new racial characteristics in Skyrim, they look much more distinct and interesting. Although, the first time I saw a woodelf (courier, I think), my first reaction was "What the heck is wrong with that guy?"

Seems like the Dunmer/Dark Elves look more like Romulans (aside from the skin tone) than the Altmer/High Elves do, now that I think about it. At least, it seems like I've seen a couple of them that actually seem to have that "V" forehead ridge. Could have just been the lighting, though.
