Are High Elves weak to magic like in Oblivion?

Post » Tue May 08, 2012 11:08 pm

Hey all,

Obviously in Oblivion High Elves had a weakness to all types of magic. I thought they had removed that for Skyrim, but I noticed some people still mentioning it.

So, simple question being, is that in Skyrim?

pfffft with the great resistances and decent armor or alteration and restoration they are really solid, ntm if you are speccing in it, any race can be not squishy

Thanks, that's what I thought.

And yeah it sure seems like Altmer is the super mage and Orc is the super warrior.

For that matter, even if you were to play, say, a thief or an archer, I can see why Orc would be the superior choice...

Why are they a super mage? Do they still get the 100 magicka bonus that their elemental weakness previously compensated for? I thought all they had was faster magicka regeneration now.

High Elves get a constant +50 Magicka and the "Highborn" Greater Power, which make them regenerate Magicka 10x faster for 60 seconds. They no longer have elemental weaknesses. However, High Elves are still the TES equivalent to Nazis.
Bretons on the other hand have a constant 25% Resist Magic, and the "Dragonskin" Greater Power, which absorbs 50% of the magicka from hostile spells they're hit with for 60 seconds.
