I've been using it since level 9 or so when I finished the Companions questline. While it's a very nice looking weapon, I really prefer greatswords to battleaxes, although I've definitely gotten more used to it. So are there are any comparable two handed weapons I can find at this point? I'm level 22 at the moment.

You can upgrade other base weapons to be better. Wuuthrad itself can't be upgraded so it doesn't scale well, but it has good base damage so it's fine for low levels.

what he said, once you get smithing and enchanting up to 100 you can easliy make any weapon better then any special weapon in the game

there are all kinds of better weapons that you can find or make.

the cursed orc tribe quests gives you Volendrung the Hammer of Might.

go everywhere and check every nook and cranny.

It has bonus damage to Elves. Therefore no, nothing is better.

e: i thought maybe ebonyblade but the damage on that looks too low to even be a 2 hander. theres another special two hander you can get, The Longhammer. Base damage is 21 (slightly less) but the enchant i think makes it swing faster? http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:The_Longhammer#The_Longhammer

as much as i dislike that Thalmor i think that absorbing 50 points of stamina from every enemy beats just killing one race.

it also seems that you can upgrade volendrung.
