Are you happy with your purchase of Fallout: New Vegas?

Post » Mon Jan 10, 2011 10:59 pm

I love Fallout 3, I played it for well over 300 hours. I have the standard edition, with Broken Steel and Point Lookout DLC. In all that time I only ever experienced a handful of major bugs/glitches, so overall I'm a happy customer.

I want to get NV but frankly the amount of serious issues being reported are putting me off, and I don't want to pay full price for a game that's broken. For those who have played it, tell me, was it money well spent or do you wish you'd waited a while before it went down in price/had most of the serious issues fixed?

i've had about the same amount of bugs/issues and it's one hell of a game. bugs are hit or miss some people can't play the game while others haven't had an issue. keep in mind no one praises a game for being bug from but everyone will complain about a frame rate drop.

Probably has the same level of issues as F3.

The difficulty of the game has been beefed up big time..
The wildlife can be hard to deal with.

I havent had any SERIOUS issues with the game thus far, although i have only got as far as Novac to date, having decided to restart a few times through character choices.

Well you never got stuck in a locked room at camp mccarran and then get "Flood control is enabled. Please wait at least 300 seconds before attempting to search again", damn pricks you stole my money.

I love this game. I haven't experienced any bugs except for the one where you hold your weapon awkwardly.

Personally, I think that I got my moneys worth but waiting for a month or so until a patch or two are released and the first good mods start coming out it's not a bad idea at all.

I pre-ordered the Collector's Edition and would do it again in a heartbeat. I love the game so much I am already modding for it :)

The only issues I ran into were glitches in quests due to having explored everywhere before picking up the quests.... in 1 case I couldn't complete the major plot quest line the way I wanted because it would not register that I did the stuff required for completing the quest before I tasked to do it..

II want to get NV but frankly the amount of serious issues being reported are putting me off, and I don't want to pay full price for a game that's broken. For those who have played it, tell me, was it money well spent or do you wish you'd waited a while before it went down in price/had most of the serious issues fixed?

Well I waited for Fallout 3 to go down in price because of all the negativity I herd about it as well. I waited over 9 months before I could not wait no more. The price never went down. So if you are waiting for the price to go down, you will be waiting for a year. So if that $20 or $30 waiting for the price to go down, or waiting for the GotY edtion, for a year is worth it to you, then go for it. For me, I can't wait another year just to save $20 or $30.

Also keep in mind, just because many people didn't experiance any bugs, you may. So you have done your research. So now, you have to decide, do you wait for the patch, or do you buy now and play. I believe money is not the issue for you. So since you did your research and you see the bugs that are out there, can you live with them? If not, then your answer is wait for the patches to come out in the upcomming months and then see what people have to say about it.

I would say get the game. If you were happy with Fallout 3, then New Vegas should be acceptable for you as well.

In about 20 hours of play I've had the game freeze on me twice, which I would say makes it more stable than F3 in my experience. Well worth the money as far as I'm concerned!

Some good responses guys, keep the votes coming. Seems like most people are pleased with it and haven't experienced much to put them off the game.
