Are You Ready for the next-gen?

Post » Fri Oct 04, 2013 9:32 am

So I imagine many of you, If you're anything like myself, spend a lot of time playing an Elder Scrolls game I've personally racked up 16 hours in the space of 2 weeks which is a lot for me ha. As a result I dont always spend that much time playing other games and have accumulated a serious backlog.

However with the modding community for the Elder Scrolls games keeping these games looking fantastic and chock full of content I can't see me stopping playing anytime soon not least until Elder Scrolls Online rolls around.

SO i kinda feel like I don't need a next generation of games or consoles, Skyrim looks fantastic the HD texture packs practically make it look next-gen anyway. and there's so much to do!

What do you guys think?? will you be hanging up you're scrolls when the next wave of next-gen titles comes rolling round at the end of the year?

I am never hanging up my scrolls.

I don't care about "next gen" titles. I'm here because I care about the games Bethesda makes. And I'll continue to play the games Bethesda makes as long as I have a computer to play them on.

S' a good point, if you just love The Elder Scrolls simply because it's the Elder scrolls then there's enough here to keep you gaming way into the next generation... It's just nice to be able to boast that my 'last-gen' title still look, and plays great in comparison to Dragon age inquisition. I may be turning into a fan boy haha

Until someone brings texture mods out for it, just like they did with skyrim. Skyrim looks great textured up, but vanilla...eh. with the nextgen games coming out and they being devloped on next gen hardware, there's a very good chance they will blow current tes out the water in maybe even vanilla looks before texture mods.
Landscape wise, I'd say the best 2 looking games with mods would be fallout 3 (say what u will but they did put a lot of work into the clutter and looks) and I'd dare say morrowind textured up (notice how I said landscape mind u lol).
I for one being a pc player cannot wait for the nextgen bethesda game to come out, because there will be even MOAR possibilities and options due to having a bigger hardware to tax. So I believe once modders get their hands on the next gen (and bethesda isn't late or shoddy on thier kit to us...ahem) we will problemly get blown outta the water in the things that we will see people come up with.

I just hope they fix their mechanics instead of going their usual way of "if its broke, don't fix it, simply throw it away" along with supping up the visuals.

But to say the least, in years to come I will still be playing tes games (new and old) for many years to come as I have been currently doing for years.

Welcome to PC gaming. There is no "nextgen" There is only devs who hold their games back for consoles, and devs who realize PC's are waaaay waaaay waaay more open and powerful.

Am I ready for nextgen? Been there, done that.

For those that have the money to put into a rig and to keep upgrading it....

Please lets not start a knuckle dragging PC vs. Consoles war.

Why can't we mention it? That's how I'm prepared for the next gen. Probably buy a new GPU next year and I should be good for a while.

I can talk about gaming platforms without being a child about it though

Don't really care about next-gen. I'll stick with current-gen consoles until a game I really really want is released for next-gen consoles. Currently they're not showing much stuff that I haven't seen already.

I can't wait for this thread to go to [censored] right away. A fate that's destined for all threads that have the mention of both PCs and consoles.
