typically i guess people would say no, or at least that is what ive commonly heard. What i define "material desires" as would be having every thing you would ever want that could be had at this moment, barring future desires or desires for things that as of yet do not exist. Also excluded would be things that you would want if you had unlimited money, who wouldn't want to buy [insert random senselessly expensive thing] if they could have every thing in the world.

Personally I feel like i have every thing that i want, all the games or game systems, dietary choices, visual media etc. there are some things that i know what i would like to get in the future, such as the last book in the chronicles of thomas covenant the unbeliever and fallout 4 which are things that have not been published yet. Although that doesn't really leave me with any feeling of satisfaction, since i am still under the constant pressure to continue work to maintain this lifestyle as well as having a lot of intangible desires that i have not achieved.

Ive been thinking about this for a long time, however what made me start this thread is that i have a reoccurring theme in some of my dreams where i am in either two situations at two kinds of scenes. I am either at a store or some random person's house and I am either stealing or purchasing old electronics and video games. I find it very odd because it is all ways old crap and i don't really feel any desire for those things, even if i subconsciously did i could get any of that kind of junk any time i want.

No, because I'd really like a replacement for my copy of 'A Feast For Crows', which was ruined by circumstances beyond my control before I could start it. :/

Yes I am. After a few years of adding and changing stuff around, I recently finished my audio setup and I can finally admit to myself that I am happy and content with what I have and where I am. I had already satisfied my need for a new bike last year and two weeks ago I got myself a laptop for the first time in ever. All my material desires have been met!

Maybe it's time to look at my insurance policy next..

I really need another car, the one I have now is over 20 years old and wont last much longer. I just finished paying off some big bills and am finally able to put money in the bank for a down payment. I'd like to keep the payments between $300 - $400 a month, so I'm forcing the car I have now to last a bit longer.

And I really want a gaming computer, the one I have now is showing it's age and in the near future the games I'd like to play will melt my computer ie. Star Citizen and I'm sure others. I'm figuring $2,000 - $3,000 should create a computer that will last a long time.

Oh yeah, and I just recently (by recently I mean today) started looking into Airsoft. If there are any ranges in my area I think I'll give it a go.

Other than that I'm good. I guess I don't have many needs as long as I can hang out with friends from time to time, pay my rent, utilities, cable, car insurance and phone bill I'm pretty much set. I don't make a ton of money, I just watch what I spend and when I can get away with buying the cheaper product I usually do.

Used to airsoft when I was in my early teens with family friends, biggest gripes is that the guns were over priced and people cheating too much. Paint ball solves the cheating problem but i always hated those stupid feeders, as well as jerk bags who deliberately set their psi to ultra pain levels.

I think it's the feeders that tun me off from paintball as well. I figure if I do get into Airsoft I'll rent a couple of times at first to see how it goes.

The secret is to realize there is no desire.

They should be, considering we have more stuff than can be adequately stored in what's a reasonably-sized house, but I think for me there's more pleasure in acquiring than possessing. I sometimes wonder if I were prohibited from acquiring new things if I'd find a new appreciation for the stuff I already have: I feel bad that I don't do that already.

More or less, yeah. I could do with some hedge trimmers, though. The privets are looking ungainly.
